Simonton. Experience gained in curricula pertaining to every
content area, including Envision and Teacher’s College
Reading and Writing Workshops. Familiarity with assessment
methods includes BPST, Running Records, ReThink
Mathematics, and Master Track data collection. Completed a
yearlong sequence with CLEAR (Collaborative Learning for
Educational Achievement and Resiliency) trainings to support a
trauma-informed teaching practice.

Assisted Karen Choe in math and science instruction by
supporting small intervention and challenge groups
biweekly. Duties included providing one-on-one conferrals
and small-group instruction.

Planned and implemented an emergent curriculum for a
classroom of 10 children representing diverse learning needs
and abilities. Designed and carried out behavioral
interventions, and received training in Positive Discipline
classroom management practices.

Provided push-in math, science, and English instruction.
Gained extensive experience in multilingual instruction
(English and Arabic), very high-density classrooms, as well as
exposure to teaching in a setting where students are
severely impacted by trauma.

Qalandia Children’s Center (Qalandia Refugee Camp)
Project Manager and Teacher
Coordinated four different levels of after-school ELL
instruction. Responsibilities included teaching English
daily to 40+ students, managing volunteers, discussing
curriculum connections with the United Nations Relief and
Works Agency schools located in the camp, and
relationship building with families. Gained experience
working with youth who are exposed to many forms of
violence on a daily basis.

Currently pursuing MA through an urban teacher residency
program that adapts the medical residency model to
teacher preparation, with a full year of classroom
experience integrated into the curriculum. Coursework
emphasizes trauma-informed practices and racial and
sociopolitical equity, and is oriented towards preparing
teachers to work in Title I schools.

Poised to complete endorsement coursework during the
