IN CANCER STUDY

Introduction
 Charles Canver, MD, serves Presence United
Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois
as chief medical officer and vice president of
medical affairs. In preparation for his career,
he earned his MD from Erciyes University in
Turkey. Continuing his education, Charles
Canver completed a general surgery
internship and a cardiothoracic surgery
residency at the University at Buffalo, State
University of New York School of Medicine and
Biomedical Sciences.

 Presence United Samaritans Medical Center
recently announced that it will help enroll
300,000 people from across the United States
in the Cancer Prevention Study-3, a project
sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
The researchers involved in the study hope to
gain insight into factors that prevent and/or
give rise to various types of cancer.
Prospective enrollees must be at least 30
years old and no older than 65. The study will
enroll only those who have never received a
cancer diagnosis.
Conclusion
 If accepted into the study, participants will
have their personal information kept totally
confidential by staff members, and the study
requires no financial contribution from those
enrolled.
