Russell Mineral Equipment, an Australian company that designs, manufactures and distributes mining equipment, has opened a new distribution center and workshop in Santiago, Chile. This will help meet growing demand for service and maintenance in South America. The company's mill relining machines are used at many Latin American mine sites. The new facility will stock commonly needed spare parts and serve as a base for service technicians to provide maintenance to mine sites. Russell Mineral Equipment's presence in South America has expanded since initially establishing a subsidiary in Chile in 2005.

Local Farmers as Organizers of Irrigator Associations
A crucial factor for improving farm productivity is an efficient and equitable system of water distribution. This task
is best managed by the water users themselves organized into irrigator associations (IAs).
Community-based seed systems: Improving access to quality seeds
Lack of access to good-quality rice seeds, inadequate storage facilities to keep seeds healthy and viable for the next cropping season, not having enough money to buy seeds, and experiencing long hungry months—these are some of the reasons Arakan Valley farmers adopted the community-based seed system (CBSS).
‘Entrepreneur India’, a monthly magazine published by NPCS, is aimed at simplifying the process of choosing the suitable project for investment. It makes business decisions easier and trouble-free by providing a list of right projects for investment. Unique among project investment magazines, ‘Entrepreneur India’ is dedicated to the business of identifying sound investment projects. Every issue consists of a new list of projects which are meticulously selected by the NPCS team after being screened on various investment factors. NPCS team, before labeling a project as ‘Right investment’, studies various aspects of investment like product demand, market potential, raw material availability, suitable location, payback period, costs involved and breakeven point.
The importance of project identification is known to less and many a times, entrepreneurs spend substantial time and resources on project planning, execution and control, while little attention is paid to project assessment and selection. Such times lead to disastrous business decisions and often a project is declared a ‘dead investment’. Most entrepreneurs, these days, have the capital but not the expertise to shortlist a suitable project to park their money. And ‘Entrepreneur India’ helps remove such hurdles for a businessman to ensure successful ventures and expansions.
Correct project identification is a herculean task for any entrepreneur who is willing to expand or venture and he is often faced with the dilemma of identifying a suitable project that has minimum risk to his capital and has high growth potential. Russell Mineral Equipment opens new distribution centre and
workshop in Chile
Toowoomba based Russell Mineral Equipment, an Australian company with
more than 7 years of presence in South America, has established a new
Distribution Centre and Workshop in Santiago, Chile.
Known as the world’s leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of mineral
grinding mill relining machines and associated equipment, Russell Mineral
Equipment’ new Distribution Centre and Workshop in Chile will meet the
growing demand for service and maintenance in South America.
Latin American mine sites have been world leaders in adopting the most
advanced mill relining technologies, with RME Mill Relining Machines being
used in Chile since 1998 at Escondida. Since then, Latin American mine sites
have ordered various components of the unique RME Mill Relining System which are currently operating in Peru, Brazil, Argentina,
Bolivia, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Suriname.
This new Distribution Centre and Workshop will store and supply the most commonly required spare parts, and will be a base for
some of RME’s service technicians providing maintenance and repair services at mine sites. RME's equipment is technically
unique, and requires knowledge of a range of trade skills in diverse fields such as hydraulics, electrics, pneumatics, mechatronics
and computerisation to effectively diagnose and repair any faults. Since initially establishing the subsidiary in Antofagasta in 2005,
RME's ability to provide an enhanced service offering to South America has continued to improve.
According to the Company Founder and Managing Director, John Russell (pictured above, right), the establishment of this new
Distribution Centre and Workshop will improve RME’s service delivery because it will speed their logistic in this region. Chris
Rodwell (pictured above, left), Trade & Investment Commissioner for the Americas for the Queensland Government and guest
speaker of the celebration, highlighted RME’s steadfast commitment to the South American market as the reason of RME’s
success in this region. Representatives from RME Australia, RME Chile and RME North America, Austrade, Queensland
Government, and a number of the leading mining companies represented in South America attended the celebration of this
opening in Chile.
RME will continue to use its focus and experience to develop improvements and innovations that make grinding mill maintenance
faster, more reliable and safer in South America and worldwide.

Peru proving popular tourist destination for Aussies
Peru has recorded the highest number of Australian travellers for the period January to June, with an increase of 23 per cent year-
on-year compared to 2011. The rise in popularity can be attributed to “the accessibility with flights, promotion with the trade and
many inspirational travel articles within the Australian media,” according to PromPeru coordinator for Asia-Pacific Rosana Guinea.
“It is wonderful that more Australians than ever before are travelling to Peru to
experience the diversity of product that is on offer,” Ms Guinea said.
“As PromPeru we have been working in the Australian market for over four
years with the main focus to educate and work with the trade to promote Peru
and it is wonderful to see that numbers are on the rise.” Peru only experienced
a one per cent rise in Australian travellers between 2010 and 2011.
PromPeru and wholesale partners will be hosting a quiz night roadshow in
Australia for agents next month. The roadshow will make stops in Melbourne on
2 October and Sydney on 3 October, accompanied by contemporary Peruvian
band Novalima, who are in Australia to join the Pura Vida festival in Sydney.
