Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
• The combination of our trailer, magazine and
film posters helps us to look into making sure
all three are in any way link into each other
and have similar formalistic and mainly
stylistic conventions. This mainly consists of
the mise en scene of the characters as it
would show a high level of continuity as this
would make it look more realistic.
• For our main product and ancillary texts we
looked at films like Tamara and Carrie which
were films that we found was very similar to
what we had an idea for our film. They helped
us to look at stylistic conventions of the genre
so they all had a similar repertoire of elements
Repertoire of elements
• Iconography: The use of low key chiaroscuro is a
key aspect in all supernatural horrors as we have
all incorporated similar lighting techniques in all
of our texts.
• Themes: recurring theme with in our 3 texts is
witch craft this is the main theme because is it
what the narrative revolves around.
• Character stock type: there is a vulnerable young
girl who then falls victim to wanting to do witch
craft.
• There is more of a restrictive formalistic
conventions when it comes to conventions of
a magazine in comparison to film posters
• Trailers also have a distinct set of formalistic
conventions which we have had to follow
• With this all in mind we have had to to think
of ways to incorporate different ways to make
our texts effective.
