In the future, media consumption will change significantly due to advances in technology. As technologies like smartphones and tablets become more intelligent and able to tailor recommendations to individual users, newspapers and other traditional media sources will decline. Younger generations are already relying more on online sources for news rather than print newspapers. While older users still prefer traditional media now, technology is advancing to become more user-friendly over time. Eventually, most media will transition to digital formats and smart devices as ePaper and other technologies make digital reading experiences similar to print. This will further reduce demand for printed newspapers and other media.

A presentation on what communication technology will look like in the year 2026. A review of where we came from with technology and a look into the future of whats still to come.
1. Daniella Di Paolo
The way in which we consume the
Media in the future will be different
The types of technology we use today consist of iPads, iPods, smartphones, kindles
and various devices which are new. The software we all use now is getting more
intelligent from what it used to be.
Various websites and applications have become more intelligent, such as Facebook,
when you sign up for Facebook they give questions about you and groups to join,
once the website knows you they give you adverts that would be of interest to you.
Also iTunes can tell you what other songs are similar to ones you have on your
playlists so they would give options for other songs you may enjoy. Many people use
YouTube as a source for music now, and when they listen to a song they like, other
similar songs are recommended for you. As well as videos and episodes of shows
on YouTube are recommended also.
In the future, I think that media today such as newspapers will die out; hardly many
people read them today. The reason I believe this, is because people have the
internet to look up the news in their area and for interesting articles they find
enjoyable. Also some technology now has the news on the devices, such as
smartphones have these. Possibly in the future, that will be adapted and so
newspapers won’t need to be printed any longer.
In 2006, it was known that 51% of broadband users for whom a laptop with Wi-Fi is
the main point of internet access agreed.
The implications for media institutions, such as printing newspapers, would mean
that many people would lose their jobs, as people would no longer buy them, so
printing the news wouldn’t be needed anymore, as consumers would go online to
look up the news. Alternatively, this would mean that there would be more IT staff to
help set up these websites on the internet, as well as media specialists.
As the older generation find it hard to use modern day technology, they would refer
to easier types of the media. As time will go on, the more technology that is brought
out into the world will become easier to use and converge, and consumers will no
longer feel the need to have traditional things, like newspapers.
In the future, one of the main reasons that I think that the media will be different is
that technology, such as Kindle’s, use ePaper. This is because ePaper is more
comfortable to read, just like ordinary paper, so older forms of media will be of no
use in the future.
