This document provides instructions for students to create individual learning portfolios on the website issuesinafrica2010.wikispaces.com about the course "Issues in Africa" by Lester and Hamilton. It lists required elements for the portfolio like name, course title, date, table of contents, 3 multigenre artifacts with narratives, an embedded presentation, blog posts, a research paper, an Evernote notebook, and a discussion area. All work must be completed and posted by December 8.

Student pages will be created at http://issuesinafrica2010.wikispaces.com/. All
work must be posted by Wednesday, December 8; all pages will be locked from
editing at 11:30 PM that evening.
 See http://issuesinafrica2010.wikispaces.com/template for the sample
template.
 Please use “heading style 1” for all headings; we will apply these LAST in
class on Wednesday, December 8 together and add your Table of
Contents that day.
 Add elements as you can do so—do not wait until Wednesday, December
8 because I cannot help all 30+ students add every element in one class
period.
Required Elements (check off as completed)
 Name, Course Title, Date (see template) (complete November 29)
 Table of Contents (we will add this last on December 8 in class)
 Multigenre Artifact 1 and Narrative (finish by Tuesday, December 7 and
be prepared to upload that day)
 Multigenre Artifact 2 and Narrative finish by Tuesday, December 7 and be
prepared to upload that day)
 Multigenre Artifact 3 and Narrative finish by Tuesday, December 7 and be
prepared to upload that day)
 Embedded Presentation from SlideShare (may be added any time)
 Blog Posts (RSS feed OR 8 individual links) (may be added any time)
 Research Paper with Works Cited Page (Google Docs or Uploaded to
SlideShare) (may be added any time)
 Evernote Notebook (may be added any time)
 Discussion Area (may be added any time)
