2. What are the conventions of film openings?
We have made our production company Seraphim Pictures because they are an
British Independent company. We also chose to make Seraphim Pictures as our
production company as we are independent film makers who have a very low
budget. We feel that Seraphim Pictures will help us make our Thriller successful as
they do their own short films and they help independent film makers. Seraphim
Pictures has also created successful Thriller films. Intandem is our distributor. We
chose to have them as our distributor they sell films to larger and well known
companies such as Warner Bros and Sony. We feel that Intandem can help us gain
a wider audience. Similarly, both companies use social media such as Facebook,
Twitter and YouTube to help get a lot of audiences.
3. Thriller openings
In our Thriller, Too Close we used Discrete title sequences. The title
sequences were located at the bottom right of the shot throughout the
opening scene. We kept the title sequence consistent as we thought the
audience would focus more on the title sequence if it was centred so we
decided to put it at the bottom right of the shot so the audience can see the
location of the thriller clearly.
7. Intertextuality
We have used intertextuality in our thriller. In The Stepfather a man is
changing his identity while looking in the mirror, we have done something
similar to this where the antagonist/protagonist is putting on makeup while
looking in the mirror. We have also used intertextuality again later on in our
thriller where a girl is looking at something which has not yet been revealed
until the camera shot goes to a wide angle at a dead body. Similary, this is
exactly what happened in Brick. At the end of Brick the dead person puts a
letter in a school locker and in Too Close a character puts a letter through a
letter box.
