11. Market Summary Prior to the global Financial Crisis, the Gulf region had a very healthy and promising economic activity. Hundreds of billions of US Dollars of investments were expected in upgrading and refurbishing existing infrastructure and industries as well as new projects. This included ports, roadways, airports, power plants, water purification plants, petrochemical, chemical and other investments in the health sector to provide for the increased growth in population as well as economic activity.
