3. What is measures of central tendency?
A measure of central tendency is a summary statistic that attempts to describe a set
of data by calculating the center point or typical value within that data set.

of Mean
Harmonic Mean
(HM):
The harmonic mean is the number of variables divided by
the sum of the reciprocals of the variables.
9. Computation of Median and
Mode
• Median:
Median is the middle value of the observations after they have been ordered from the smallest to the largest or
from the largest to the smallest.
Odd Number of Observations:
If the total number of observation given is odd, then the formula to calculate the median is:
Median = {(n+1)/2}th term
Even Number of Observations:
If the total number of observation is even, then the median
formula is:
Median = [(n/2)th term + {(n/2)+1}th]/2
where “n” is the number of observations
10. Computation of Median and
Mode
Mode:
The value which occurs with the highest frequency in the data set is called Mode.
Data can have more than one mode. If it has two modes, it is referred to as bimodal, three
modes, tri-modal, and the like.
