Rules of thumb
• Typical student growth percentiles are between
about 40 and 60 on most tests.
• Students or groups outside this range has higher
  or lower than typical growth.
• Differences of fewer than 10 SGP points are
  likely not educationally meaningful.

Goodbye MCAS,
 Hello Partnership for
Assessment of Readiness
for College and Careers
        (PARCC)
From the new MA Teacher Evaluation Model

Evaluators draw upon multiple measures of student
learning as a source of evidence for summative
performance ratings.
1. BPS continues to show average growth (a year of
growth after a year of instruction) at all levels

2. We need to continue our focus on finding multiple
measures to indicate student progress and success
concretely to parents and students.

3. BPS needs to continue to adjust our curriculum to the
Common Core and the migration from MCAS to
PARCC.
