Education is being redefined through new technologies that increase access. Online education could reach 14 million students by 2014. Innovations like low-cost loans and fellowship programs are also improving access to financing for education. Many schools are transitioning to paperless classrooms where students use tablets, e-readers, and laptops loaded with digital content. Education providers are also creating new text-based and mobile programs to reach students in developing areas.
This document summarizes a research journal article about using ICT and open educational resources (OERs) to improve teacher education and training in the Dadaab refugee settlement in Kenya. Globally, the potential of ICT has resulted in mass deployment, transforming the educational landscape in accordance with 21st-century demands. The diffusion of ICT within education has shown tremendous benefits, positively impacting students and teachers in learning, instruction, engagement, and assessment (Fu, 2013). However, the widespread application of technology to address education access and quality has not been universally adopted for various reasons, resulting in the exclusion of critical segments of the world's population. As a result of the current technology inequities, the current literature review focuses on access to and use of ICT within education. More specifically, it seeks to explore: What does the comparative and international research say regarding the factors that facilitate access to and use of ICT among underserved K-8 education populations in the United States and Liberia?

African Council for Distance Education KeynoteTerry Anderson
The document discusses three routes to achieving inclusive education:
1. Community-based education systems that engage learners in their local communities and environments.
2. Distance education solutions that increase access to education for all. Athabasca University in Canada is presented as a successful model.
3. A hybrid model combining community schools with distance education components, allowing students to learn locally while receiving instructional materials and guidance from distance education institutions.
1. Educators and students are gaining the ability to easily access, manage, and share digital educational materials online through open educational resources (OER). As more schools and teachers collaborate around sharing content, it will accelerate changes in education.
2. OER allows teachers to discover full courses, modules, videos and other materials to mix and match into new curricula. Teachers can analyze, critique and improve each other's lessons to bring innovation to the classroom.
3. OER can significantly reduce education costs by replacing expensive textbooks with freely accessible and updatable online resources. This is important as schools face budget cuts while needing to improve STEM education.

E-LOOX, A HYBRID LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMijseajournal
E-loox is an educational software application that has been designed specifically for students located in areas with limited Internet access. Unlike the majority of existing educational applications, E-loox is a “hybrid app”– meaning it can function both on and offline. As a hybrid app, E-loox allows students to complete assignments, access course materials, and conduct research in places where there is no Internet access. While global Internet access has expanded rapidly in the last decade, there are still more than 3.5 billion people who lack access, including approximately 60 million people in the United States. E-loox seeks to bridge the gap for the millions of students who have internet in the classroom but lack a home connection.
This document discusses the need for universities to innovate their models of pedagogy and knowledge production to better suit the digital age. It argues that the traditional lecture-based "broadcast" model of education is becoming obsolete and failing to meet the needs of today's students. Instead, it advocates for a new model of "collaborative learning" where students actively participate in the learning process through discussion and peer-to-peer interaction. It also calls for "collaborative knowledge production" where course content is created collaboratively across institutions through open sharing of educational resources on a global scale. The document asserts that universities must embrace these new models of collaborative learning and knowledge production, or risk becoming outdated relics like encycloped

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
