Maya Angelou Elementary initiated a transformation in culture and practices starting in June 2004 with the introduction of learning communities, leading to comprehensive faculty training and the establishment of critical friends groups. Over the years, steps were taken to evaluate and improve educational practices through data analysis, cultural sensitivity training, and collaborative strategies among faculty. By August 2008, the first group of educators completed their advanced degrees, signifying the ongoing commitment to professional development and educational excellence.
