Dr. Cassetta, a geographer and tourist guide, spoke to classes 2B and 2A about three famous villas along the Brenta River in Italy - Villa Pisani, Villa Malcontenta, and Villa Seriman-Widmann. He described Villa Pisani as the most beautiful villa, noting its architects and past use by wealthy families for relaxation. Villa Malcontenta was designed by Palladio for the Foscari brothers in 1559 and served as both a country residence reachable by boat from Venice and a farm. The class discussed the villas further, with some students giving opinions on which was most hidden or complicated.

It is still somewhat of a head scratcher when I contemplate how little I've seen of Italy. Some way or another, I never got round to figuring out that long, crosscountry experience I longed for in my mid 20s. As a matter of fact, I even wrecked the chance to proceed to live there.Paradise OF Italy-Vanice It was the pre-winter of 2004 and I was nearly putting pen to paper on an English showing contract for a school in the city of Brindisi. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Our class, 2B, and 2A, within the e-twinning project "Sharing our worlds and heritage", met with
Dr. Cassetta, who is the owner of “PADOVA ORIGINALE” (a collection of touristic suggestions).
He is a geographer who has decided to study mainly our territory. He is also a journalist and a tourist guide.
Since he is a guide, he can illustrate our Venetian Villas to tourists. He thinks that the most famous villas on
the brenta Riviera are three: Villa Pisani, Villa Malcontenta and Villa Seriman-Widmann.
First, Mr. Casetta, started talking about Villa Pisani, the most beautiful villa in Riviera of Brenta. He talked
that a part was built by the best eighteenth-century architect, Gerolamo Frigimelica but few months later
they changed architect because the
costs were too high and so the
construction continued with another
one called Francesco Maria Preti to
which attribute the biggest part
manufactured of villa Pisani. Mr.
Cassetta also said that in the past, rich
men used to use the villa like a place
where they could relax and where they
rode their horses around the garden in
which is situated a long and narrow
swimming pool. After that, before to
pass to villa Malcontenta, he said that
the name "Pisani" was taken by the surname of the first family who lived here and finally he issued an
opinion: “I think that villa Pisani is the best one for beauty, not for others features!".
Another villa about we learnt was Villa Malcontenta which designed by Palladio for the brothers Nicolò and Alvise
Foscari around the 1559.
More than a villa used for farming purposes, this was a suburban residence that could easily be reached by boat
from the centre of Venice. The family of its patron was one of the most powerful families of the city.
The villa sees the coexistence of motifs that recall the building traditions of the Lagoon while also evoking ancient
architecture like in Venice and the main façade is turned to the water.
3. Why has the called ‘Malcontenta’?
Because it makes reference to the waters ‘malcontenute’. ‘Malcontenute means ….’
The bridges along Riviera del Brenta are lots but
there are some special bridges that they are
movable. There are ten movable bridges and five
"conche". "Conche" are a piece of river where
there is a big difference in height. They serve to
pass the ships. In the first time, they increase the
level of water, the ship enter in the conca and they
lower the level of water and they exit from the
conca.
There are three tipes of movable bridges: lift
bridge, rotatable and retractable. For example, one
movable bridge is in Mira. It is a rotatable brigde.
Riviera del Brenta starts in Porto del Portello in Padua. This porto is a door situated in the old walls of
Padua and it’s for make way people, goods that have to arrive in Venice or Chioggia. Instead, Riviera del
Brenta ends up in a famous square, her name is San Marco square in Venice.
4. Then, we did some questions:
1) Which is the most beautiful villa?
I think it is Villa Pisani in Stra.
2) Which is the most hidden villa?
It’s Barchessa Valmarana in Mira.
3) Which is the most complicated villa?
It’s Villa Pisani.
4) There were and are secret passages?
No, there weren’t and aren’t. But There is a big labyrinth in Villa Pisani.
