Matter is made of tiny particles that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Matter can exist in three main states: solid, liquid, and gas. Solids have a definite shape and volume, liquids have a definite volume but take the shape of their container, and gases have neither a definite shape or volume and spread out to fill their container.
