Mathematical Creativity
● Creativity is the ability to produce novel and original work.
● Mathematical Creativity is the process that results in
unusual and insightful solutions to a given problem,
irrespective of the level of complexity.
● Mathematical Creativity is observed when one generates non
standard solution for a problem which may not be solved by using
standard method.

● Creativity is the ability to develop somthing original .
● Creativity is the ability to create new ideas, theories or
objects.
● Creativity is the capacity to accept challenge.
● Creativity is the freedom to exercise choice.
● Creativity is the readiness to change self and
environment.
● Creativity is a process as well as a product an
environment and person is also creative.
● Creativity is the ability to synthesize ideas or objects.
● Mathematical creativity is the resultant of some
interaction
● Creativity knows no special medium, place, person or
time.
● Mathematical creative students are not afraid to take
risks.
● They ask good questions.
● Link apparently disparate ideas.
● Notice pattern or structures.
● Make conjecture.
● Find new way to apply familiar techniques.
● Find common themes.
● Find new way to visualise abstractions.
● Find illustrative examples or analogies.
Role of Techer
Ways to Stimulate Mathematical Creativity
● Teachers of Mathematics must know and internalise the
creative ways of Teaching and for the same they must get
training in Intellectual skills, Teaching skills and Evaluation
skills, along with continuous in-service Training.
● Teachers of Mathematics must know and internalise the
creative ways of Teaching and for the same they must get
training in Intellectual skills, Teaching skills and Evaluation
skills, along with continuous in-service Training.
● Well equipped Mathematics room/laboratory, free and
flawless discussion on mathematical issues/problems,
optimum facilities and time to deal peculiar and new
mathematical problems/situations can yield Creative
Process and Creative Environment.
● Developing creative style of self study among the
mathematics learners.
Ways to Stimulate Mathematical Creativity
● Utilisation of different methods of teaching such as
Brain Storming, Group Discussion, Buzz Session,
Seminar, Symposium, Interview, Panel discussion,
Debate, Cooperative Learning besides the traditional
methods specially Laboratory, Inductive - Deductive,
Analytic - Synthetic, Lecture Demonstration, etc
