This document provides steps to configure the SchoolAdmin client-server setup in a local area network (LAN). It explains that the SchoolAdmin software needs to be installed on a server computer and that clients can then access it via Mozilla Firefox. The 5 steps are: 1) Note the IP address of the SchoolAdmin server. 2) Check connectivity from clients to the server using ping. 3) Install Firefox on clients. 4) Access the SchoolAdmin URL on Firefox using the server IP address. 5) Create a Firefox shortcut on clients' desktops with the SchoolAdmin URL to provide easy access.

SchoolAdmin Client Server Set up Guide
This document will help you configure SchoolAdmin Server in the LAN. You can follow the below steps to
access SchoolAdmin server from the client systems in your School Network. Server Computer: The
computer which SchoolAdmin Software is installed and running.

LAN
A Physical LAN connection is must in the School to configure LAN access of SchoolAdmin Server. You
need to have LAN setup done by your computer vendor or system admin.
Client Computer
The computer which needs to access the SchoolAdmin Server which is running at server computer .You
can configure any number of client computers to access SchoolAdmin server in the LAN. You need to
create a separate username and password for each of the client in the SchoolAdmin server users menu.
Step 1: Note down SchoolAdmin server system Ip address
Consider SchoolAdmin software running in server the first step is note down the IP Address of the Server
In start menu Click Run Command
Type the command cmd click on OK button
It will take you to command prompt, Type the command ipconfig (no space between ip and config)
press enter it will display IP address of the server system, just note down the number in front of IPV4

Step 2: Check SchoolAdmin Server connectivity from the client systems
Make sure the server system is switched on and SchoolAdmin software is running.
The next step is to configure client computer
On the client system open command prompt, and type ping 192.168.16.49 ( replace ip address with
your server ip address ) If server is accessible in the LAN the ping command must be successful and if it
fails it would fail as shown below
If you get Request timed out message, ask your computer admin or lan guy to fix the lan cabling or
wiring. If LAN connection is proper you will get the message like below
Reply from 192.168.16.49 bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=128 It means successful access to server. Then
proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Install Mozilla FireFox browser on the client systems
Ensure that Mozilla Firefox latest version must be installed in client computer, if it is not installed,
download and install Mozilla Firefox browser.

Step 4: Accessing SchoolAdmin Server from the Mozilla firefox browser
Once it is installed, open Mozilla Firefox browser, In the navigation bar type the URL which contain IP
address of server then colon followed by port no 8080 then slash SchoolAdmin (S and A are capital
letter, School and Admin are one word) i.e. http://192.168.16.49:8080/SchoolAdmin/ replace ip address
192.168.16.49 with your server ip address.
When you press Enter key on keyboard, Mozilla Firefox will connect to server and display login screen.

Step 5: Create Shortcut on client desktop for easy access
The next step is to create Mozilla Firefox short cut to run SchoolAdmin
Copy the SchoolAdmin URL from navigation bar Mozilla Firefox
Creating SchoolAdmin Client Shortcut, so you need not remember and enter the URL everytime.
Goto desktop right click on Mozilla firefox icon and click on properties.
In the target text box after "C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe" give one space and paste
SchoolAdmin URL which is coped from browser.
Click on Apply and OK button
Rename Mozilla Firefox icon into
SchoolAdmin.
