Martti Ahtisaari school is a primary school for
Finnish grades 1–6 (ages 7 to 13 years),
for 500 pupils.
The school work in this fresh school
in Kuopio began on August 2011.
There are under 400 pupils (grades 1-6),
21 teachers (staff 45) and 5 groups for
preschool on 2013-2014.
3. Martti Ahtisaari School
Martti Ahtisaari Primary School will be specialized
to international partnership, peace education world
wide, understanding between different kind of
people, conciliation and language studies
(english).
Pupils with special needs will be integrated
to normal primary school system as often as
possible. Our aim is to take care of all kind
of pupils and help them growing up through
their own strengths.
7. Martti Ahtisaari School
Martti Ahtisaari (born 23 June 1937), whom the school is
named, is the tenth President of Finland (1994–2000), Nobel
Peace Prize laureate and United Nations diplomat and mediator,
noted for his international peace work.
The Nobel statement said that Mr. Ahtisaari has played a
prominent role in resolving many conflicts in Namibia, Indonesia,
Kosovo and Iraq, among other areas.
Kuopio was where Ahtisaari spent most of his childhood.
8. Martti Ahtisaari School
Location / Saaristokaupunki–the town of islands
Saaristokaupunki is a new district in Kuopio in
which 6 000 new houses for approximately 14 000 new
inhabitants will be built in next fifteen years.
Saaristokaupunki represents new kind of housing world-wide:
all the houses are situated no more than 500
meters away from the lake Kallavesi and there will be
approximately 40 km of shoreline in Saaristokaupunki
area. Totally Saaristokaupunki area is about 13 km2.
Martti Ahtisaari Primary School is located in the town of
islands, close to the center of the city.
