Shutter Island

Directed by Scorsese, Shutter Island is a 2010
American psychological thriller film starring Leonardo
DiCaprio.

It’s use of a desolate and gothic setting make it very
typical of the thriller genre, as this setting is very
unnerving for the viewer, setting the film up for intense
scenes. The plot itself is also typical of the thriller
genre, more so when we take into account the recent
success of the psychological thriller genre, such as
with Black Swan or The Woman in Black.

This film even nods to the grandfather of thriller; Alfred
Hitchcock, such as a scene in which Scorsese has the
camera right under a showerhead, in reference to the
infamous shower scene in the Hitchcock classic
Psycho.
