I am an IR, with supporting skills in rigging in offshore and onshore environments. I have a strong
work ethic and a real commitment to OH&S. I am adaptable and can work as part of a team, in a
crew supervision role or general watch-keeping.
Through my various careers as an apprentice electrical fitter, mining and rigging/fitting, I have
acquired a wide variety of skills in plant maintenance and upgrades and have gained experience
working in a range of industries including oil and gas refineries and mine sites.
In 2004 I accepted an offer with ENERCON Germany for wind turbine assembly and erection in
Germany and Portugal where I gained valuable training in ‘rope access for rescue and erection’. On
my return to Australia I accepted 2 short term positions in Indonesia; the first as a Construction
Coordinator followed by a Deck hand for The Surf Travel Company.
In 2009 I entered the offshore industry as a Deckhand with Offshore Marine Services. I worked on
various dredging vessels where I realised that my skills were an excellent match for the sector and I
loved the work. I sponsored myself for the Integrated Rating Ticket and completed my required sea
time with Offshore Marine.
My keen interest in the industry and my strong work ethic has not gone unnoticed; and through the
Appraisal system, noted by Masters and Chief Officers. The Chief Officer of Western Spirit, Borys
Miluski, stated “Martin always displayed great energy levels and had an extremely positive attitude
toward his duties" and "I would strongly recommend him for an officer of the watch position”.
My dedication to OHS has been rewarded with several Safety Awards. During my time on board the
Western Spirit seismic vessel, I was able to implement changes to a long standing system by
substituting manual handling with a mechanical process thereby reducing risk of injury. During my
time at the BP Refinery Kwinana I also received another award: “Acting Safely in a Hazardous
Situation”.
If you have any queries or require any additional information to support my CV please contact me
by mobile or email whilst at Sea.
Kind regards,
Martin WissMartin WissMartin WissMartin Wiss
