Assigned an OR staff member to organize the preference cards for the surgeon’s next days’cases and
return to the Sterile Processing Department prior to 1pm daily. This prevented delays from SPD and
from the OR when setting up for the case. This cost savings was from the average salaries of the staff in
each room and for the met goal of shaving five minutes off of each surgical case.Average total surgical
cases per month = 1100 for a total of 5500 minutes saved per month (91 hours and 40 minutes). The
staff in a room consists of 1 CRNA (average pay $90/hour), 1 RN (28/hour), and 2 CSTs (20/hour
each). Monthly total savings = $14,483.86
 Assisted in lowering the number of instruments in orthopedic trays to prevent worker’s comp

 Assisted in increasing the Sterile Processing Department’s analytics of productivity to showthe need for

resulting in patient flow and volume improvement. Efficiency for this practice is greater than 81%
 Meaningful Use Functional Status Team
 Team discussed who is responsible for collecting the data, where to put it in the EHR, and how the education
would be rolled out. This information is needed to meet stage 2 of MU. Total incentives are expected at $3.8
