How love, courtship, sex, and marriage are defined in a biblical standpoint. Includes discussions on the no-no's of premarital sex and the integrity in relationships
Relationships 101 Biblical Courtship and Marriagecebrooks50
These slides contain a brief introduction to biblical courtship. But be warned. What you are about to see may sound archaic, outdated, old-fashioned, ancient and very technical. Much of what Pastor Chuck Brooks is going to share is from a culture that has gone extinct in the United States but, be assured, the principals of courtship are found in God’s timeless and Holy Word. In its day biblical courtship kept many boys and girls from being sexually active before the age of 18. It kept millions of teenagers from getting pregnant annually. It kept pregnancies from ending in abortion. It kept many of our young women from becoming the victims of “date-rape.” Let’s revisit Relationships 101 from the biblical text.

Dating is a relatively new concept in human history. God's word has all we need to apply His desire to ours. A study on dating and engagement. The dating game 1 Corinthians 7:25-40
The end or object of God's righteousness in a believer's life is not simply to be good but to live as Him, to love as He loves in the world. If Christian's cannot love each other how then can we say we love those opposed to Christ? What is this love God commands of us? How is it different from the world's love? How does loving the brethren confirm we are truly Christian?

Biblical Dating
“Being the right person to serve my future spouse’s needs and be a God-glorifying husband or wife”
"Acceptable" is such a loose term, so it's hard to say what is "acceptable" for any given person. After all, everyone is a different individual and their situations and maturity will vary greatly. Something that is acceptable for one person may not be acceptable for another.
Also keep in mind 1 Corinthians 10:23 (NIV), which says, "'I have the right to do anything,' you say—but not everything is beneficial. 'I have the right to do anything'—but not everything is constructive." We have many freedoms through Christ, but that doesn't mean that everything will be healthy or good for you.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

4. God Designed Sex
Sex and Sexuality
Hebrews 13:4 (MSG)
Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy
between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against
casual and illicit sex.
5. God Designed Sex For Procreation And Enjoyment
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 7:1-6 (MSG)
1 Now, getting down to the questions you asked in your letter
to me. First, Is it a good thing to have sexual relations?
2 Certainly--but only within a certain context. It's good for a
man to have a wife, and for a woman to have a husband.
Sexual drives are strong, but marriage is strong enough to
contain them and provide for a balanced and fulfilling sexual
life in a world of sexual disorder.
6. God Designed Sex For Procreation And Enjoyment
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 7:1-6 (MSG)
3 The marriage bed must be a place of mutuality--the
husband seeking to satisfy his wife, the wife seeking to satisfy
her husband.
4 Marriage is not a place to "stand up for your rights."
Marriage is a decision to serve the other, whether in bed or
out.
7. God Designed Sex For Procreation And Enjoyment
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 7:1-6 (MSG)
5 Abstaining from sex is permissible for a period of time if you
both agree to it, and if it's for the purposes of prayer and
fasting--but only for such times. Then come back together
again. Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we
least expect it.
6 I'm not, understand, commanding these periods of
abstinence--only providing my best counsel if you should
choose them.
8. God Designed Sex For Procreation And Enjoyment
Sex and Sexuality
Proverbs 5:15-19
15 Drink water from your own cistern, And running water
from your own well.
16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, Streams of
water in the streets?
17 Let them be only your own, And not for strangers with you.
18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of
your youth.
9. God Designed Sex For Procreation And Enjoyment
Sex and Sexuality
Proverbs 5:15-19
19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy
you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love.
10. Sex Is An Expression Of Commitment, Intimacy,
Pleasure
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 (MSG)
16 There's more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much
spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, "The
two become one."
17 Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master,
we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment
and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever--the kind of sex
that can never "become one."
11. Sex Is An Expression Of Commitment, Intimacy,
Pleasure
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 (MSG)
18 There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all
others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own
bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-
modeled love, for "becoming one" with another.
12. Sex Is An Expression Of Commitment, Intimacy,
Pleasure
Sex and Sexuality
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 (MSG)
19 Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the
place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live
however you please, squandering what God paid such a high
price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of
property belonging to the spiritual part of you.
20 God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and
through your body.
13. The Act of Marriage : The Beauty
of Sexual Love
-Tim and Beverly LaHaye
For The First Night And After
15. Managing Personal Sexuality
Sex and Sexuality
Refuse the deceiving thought that you need to find
sexual fulfillment through other means.
Refuse sexual fantasies, pornography, or anything that
is dishonorable before God.
16. Managing Personal Sexuality
Sex and Sexuality
Pray over and consecrate your sexual affections
before God and dedicate them for your spouse. This is
honoring God and your spouse with your body.
17. The Act of Marriage after 40 :
Making Love for Life
-Tim and Beverly LaHaye
with Mike Yorkey
Enjoying Sex When You Are Forty
And Beyond
18. "Affection, warmth, and sensuality do
not have to deteriorate with age and
can actually increase in the midlife
years. Sex in later life is sex for its
own sake since our childbearing years
are in our rearview mirrors. We make
love for pleasure, release,
communication, and intimacy."
20. The Power of Two
Becoming A Team
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (GNB)
9 Two are better off than one, because together they can
work more effectively.
10 If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if
someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is
no one to help him.
11 If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how
can you keep warm by yourself ?
21. The Power of Two
Becoming A Team
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (GNB)
12 Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one
person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break.
22. Hindrances To Becoming A Good Team
Becoming A Team
Self-preservation
Selfishness
Competition
Pride
Blaming instead of taking responsibility
Problem focused instead of finding solutions
23. What Makes A Good Husband-Wife Team?
Becoming A Team
When the husband and wife understand each
other and respect their differences
When the husband and wife understand each
other's roles and support each other
24. What Makes A Good Husband-Wife Team?
Becoming A Team
When the husband and wife are able to share
interests and pursue common goals
When both work at being good team players
instead of individual stars
25. What Makes A Good Husband-Wife Team?
Becoming A Team
When they sharing each other's strengths and
hence experience enhanced strength.
When they support each other to overcome
weaknesses
