Marketing Metrics is a framework that is used by the marketers in order to evaluate their marketing
performance. This is used by the brand managers to justify and design marketing programs. It is also
used by the senior management to decide on the financial allocations. It is widely used in the advertising
and Public Relations sector, to back their plans and strategies. Marketers need the numeric data to back
their efforts and increase in the progress of the company. Marketing metrics has different elements of
measurement like net sales billed, number of product or design registrations, brand surveys to measure
brand awareness, the return on investment, hits on the official website page etc.
Being able to crunch the numbers is the vital success in marketing. Managers are using the metrics to
improve the performance of the company .With the data obtained from the metrics the company will be
able to know the competitors reaction to their new strategy that they have adopted. They can assess
their marketing assets such as brand equity, how effective it has been among its customers. The
marketing decisions by a company and their marketing mix, how the customers react to it. With a rapid
change in the market conditions and the increase in need for a non – tangible assets like brand equity
are the main reasons for the increase use of marketing metrics. It helps the companies to learn from
failures and successes of their own companies and also their competitors.
