17. LIBRARY NEEDS – perceived, actual, hypothetical
The general collections of the University Library for the general information needs of
the library users are sufficient enough to meet their information needs when they are conducting
term paper writing and thesis writing and the like.
we effectively and efficiently find the specific information needs of our users yhrough
the use of our library system called KOHA integrated library system. On the webpage of the
university library, we also refer them to the free information access link so that the library users
are also guided in searching information on the internet. We also have an information/reference
desk (ask-a-librarian station) to answer some questions regarding how to use the library and we
also help them and assist them on their research.
the MSU Library, like all other libraries around the globe, is competing with the Internet
Resources. In solving this competition, we adapt the possible benefits of the internet by
purchasing computers and subscribing to online databases.
in terms of knowing our community, we also refer ourselves, as a librarian, to the
University website because its is updated. All of the recent news pertaining to the university are
already posted on the website. We also attain some symposium, general orientation, seminar
within the university for us also to become updated as it should be.
