This passage from the Gospel of Mark describes an encounter between Jesus and a Syrophoenician woman. The woman approaches Jesus for help exorcising a demon from her daughter. At first, Jesus refuses, saying he was sent only for the lost sheep of Israel. However, the woman cleverly argues that even dogs eat crumbs from their master's table. Impressed by her faith, Jesus heals her daughter and commends the woman for her response.
