Worked in the Marketing Department for Graphic Design Team at the European Head Office near Amsterdam.
Everyday work involved Marketing Materials including: Cheatsheets, Product Bulletins, Brochures, Packaging, Posters, Signage, Mail Order, Exhibition Graphics (Retail
Vision, Cebit) and all company promotional literature, including running/designing the company Newsletter (BELKIN BEAT).
Working in the European Head Office we covered many countries allowing us to handle 22 different languages:
English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Polish, Norwegian, Hungarian, Czech, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Romanian, Slovak, Turkish, Russian,
Serbian, Slovenian, Croation and Arabic. I had to take a project from the intial concept to the final printed item, also liasing with the product managers, sales teams and
the translation team to get my projects completed on time.
Working with a wide variety of people from all around the world meant many nationalities under one roof working together to produce the best results for their
particular country. Belkin is a fast paced and challenging place to be, with almost impossible deadlines every day which needed to be met.
Freelancing (The Netherlands) July 2001 - February 2002
When I moved Holland, my first few months settling in were getting used to a foreign language and a different way of life.
Learning to drive on the opposite side of the car and road, looking for work and meeting new people. I did some freelancing on brochures and some child care whilst
looking for work in graphics. I kept busy whilst looking for the right opportunity.
aWP advertising (UK) March 1998 - June 2001
Whilst working in this Advertising Agency I designed the major launch for a pharmaceutical company called ‘BodyWATCH’ (based in London). All the packaging consisted
of colourful and eyecatching range of self testing kits, which all appeared in Superdrug, Boots and other leading pharmacies in the Uk. Also designed were all the other
promotional and press advertising which went with it. This project constantly expanded in different areas which kept me on my toes at all times.
I worked alongside a friend on my first website for a large metal detection company. Working with programs such as Dreamweaver, Image Ready and Photoshop.
This is an area I wish to learn more.
I was also able to use my photography skills to help out on some projects to produce alternative results.
The work is varied and exciting including: Corporate Identities, Newsletters, Brochures, Packaging, Exhibitions, Logos, Music CD’s and any other challenge which came
into the agency.
