TinyTech Plants was established in 1982 by Veljibhai Desai, a mechanical engineer and a law graduate. The motive behind starting TinyTech was to develop and manufacture affordable rural machineries. Desai a fervent Gandhian, imbibed Gandhian ideology on industrialization in the conduct of his day-to-day business. Today, TinyTech is engaged in manufacture, export and supply of a wide range of affordable agricultural process equipment. Another firm associated with TinyTech is Aadhunik Global Energy, established in 2002, basically engaged in manufacture and development of low-cost renewable energy technologies. The annual turnover of TinyTech in 2013-2014 was ₹4 crore (including the export business of Aadhunik Global Energy).

Created in 2001 by Stuart Crainer and Des Dearlove, the Thinkers50 was the first-ever global ranking of management thinkers. In the intervening decade, the scope of Thinkers50 has broadened to include a range of activities that support its mission of identifying, ranking and sharing the best management thinking in the world. Today, Thinkers50 is widely recognized as the world’s definitive ranking of the top 50 business thinkers, and the T50 Distinguished Achievement Awards are widely regarded as the “Oscars of management thinking.”
Innovation involves thinking differently, creatively and insightfully to create solutions that have an impact in terms of social and economic value.
National Innovation Council (NInC) was setup under the Chairmanship of Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the PM on PIII to discuss, to analyse and help implement strategies for inclusive innovation in India and prepare a Roadmap for Innovation 2010-2020. NInC would be the first step in creating a crosscutting system which will provide mutually reinforcing policies, recommendations and methodologies to implement and boost innovation performance in the country.
This book highlights some of the key initiatives that NInC has taken in last four years to promote innovations in the country.
