Do you know how many continents there are? It sounds like an easy
question, but actually there is a lot of debate about the correct answer. !

Some people say it’s seven; North America, South America, Europe,
Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica. When your parents went to school, a
lot of people (especially people in English speaking countries) agreed with
this answer.!

Now, there are also a lot of people who say there are five; the Americas,
Africa, Eurasia, Oceania, and Antarctica. The reason is because North
America and South America are really one big piece of land. Europe and
Asia is too. There are no oceans separating them. The reason for Oceania
is because the area around Australia also includes New Zealand and other
countries too.!
