Graphics are critical to any proposal process. They can convey a wealth of ideas—from the simplest to the most complex— at speeds up to 60,000 times faster than the written word. Good graphics can increase the chances of a win, while poor graphics can have a detrimental effect on the chance of success.

UX Designers play many roles on a project. They must conduct primary end-user research, then utilize the findings to Design intuitive information architecture and interaction design, within the constraints of technical platforms.
Increasing Operational Efficiency with Actionable Architectures:
The influx of technological and operational developments in the DoD has created a consistent need for architectural collaboration and integration. Conducting thorough life-cycle analyses of equipment and addressing issues such as compatibility and data-sharing are keys to creating structures that are cost-efficient and fully executable. In effect, a constant meeting of minds is necessary for the development and implementation of the latest and most efficient DoD architectures.
IDGA’s 9th annual DoD Architectures aims to provide a venue for topic experts and decision makers to compare research and incorporate solutions that will decide what will best deliver required system capabilities.
The goal of the conference is to provide DoD CIO’s, managers, and architects with access to current, accurate, and reliable information in order to create and maintain compliant and optimized architectures.

Many UX designers have a blind spot when it comes to creating useful, usable content. If our goal is a great experience for users, then UX designers need to go beyond creating page templates and interaction models and focus on content strategy.
This workshop used the familiar UX design process to talk about how content strategy contributes to activities and deliverables.
Web content: it’s the meat in the sandwich, not the icing on the cake. So why does planning for useful, usable content get short shrift in the design and development process? Thinking about the content is always left until the last minute, always thought to be “somebody else’s problem.” Teams are forced into crisis mode at the 11th hour, trying to deal with content that arrives too late, doesn't fit in the designs, or fails to live up to user expectations. In this session, User Experience expert Karen McGrane will talk about why we fail to plan for content, and how everyone involved can help make the process run more smoothly.
Let's go to the whiteboard: how and why software developers use drawingsMauro Cherubini
Software developers are rooted in the written form of their code, yet they often draw diagrams representing their code. Unfortunately, we still know little about how and why they create these diagrams, and so there is little research to inform the design of visual tools to support developers' work. This paper presents findings from semi-structured interviews that have been validated with a structured survey. Results show that most of the diagrams had a transient nature because of the high cost of changing whiteboard sketches to electronic renderings. Diagrams that documented design decisions were often externalized in these temporary drawings and then subsequently lost. Current visualization tools and the software development practices that we observed do not solve these issues, but these results suggest several directions for future research.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.

As a UX Designer with the Concept Development & Implementation group at AT&T, my main role is to create user-centered solutions for
applications on touch screen kiosks and handheld technology used in AT&T’s retail stores. I have also guided enhancements to the point of
sales systems used by AT&T stores and 3rd party AT&T retailers. Though my deliverables for most projects correspond to user research and
prototyping related documentation, I work with the business client through all phases of a project to ensure their vision and the proposed
design are successfully implemented.

As a User Experience Researcher at Hitachi’s Automotive Research Lab, I worked with their Navigation Systems team primarily focusing on
informing the concept and design of future navigation systems. I worked on creating the prototype for a web portal to be used in conjunc-
tion with future navigation systems. The process involved conducting market studies, competitor analysis and target audience research.
Based on data from these studies, we created personas and scenarios. Card sorting exercises were conducted to identify and organize links
and labels for the portal. This was followed by low delity proprototyping of di erent concepts of the web portal. Finally, we tested the
di erent prototypes to arrive at a nal prototype.
