To Our Shareholders
ALEX GORSKY
Chairman, Board of Directors, and
Chief Executive Officer
A
s I began to compose this letter, I realized how quickly my first year has
passed as Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson. It has been a
year with many rewarding moments, as well as some challenges. Though
a year of transition, we made solid progress on many fronts, including
building out strategic platforms, while establishing exciting new ones.
I am honored to be just the seventh CEO in our long history. This legacy of
leadership is a tribute to the success and stability of Johnson & Johnson, and to the
belief in the importance of our purpose held in common with us by our shareholders
over so many decades. Personally, I am truly humbled to lead the incredibly talented
and dedicated people who work for Johnson & Johnson.
One challenge all of us in the world today face together is health and health care.
This is true in both developed and emerging markets. When combined with the
rapidly changing demographics of an aging population, a growing middle class and
the persistence of chronic disease, the scale and complexity of the issue is magnified.
It is my belief that providing high-quality health care to patients and consumers
around the world in a sustainable manner is society’s greatest challenge. But it is also
the greatest hope for a better future for every individual, every family, every
community and every country.
Johnson & Johnson works at the very center of this challenge, across the broadest base of any company in global health care. Every
day, we are working to help people everywhere live longer, healthier, and happier lives. We recognize that with our global leadership
comes a responsibility; one we consider a privilege. I’m pleased with how we are meeting that responsibility, but I’m far from satisfied.
The passing last fall of former CEO James Burke reminded us all that the simple set of beliefs defined in Our Credo can guide our
Company through all the challenges and complexities of these or any time. My overarching goal as CEO is to ensure that our nearly
128,000 employees in more than 275 operating companies around the world will always be united by Our Credo and our single
purpose: Caring for the world, one person at a time.
LEGACY OF CARING
That purpose was at work here in New Jersey, the home state of Johnson & Johnson, when Hurricane Sandy roared through so ma.

This document discusses the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. It argues that attitude is the most important factor for success, more so than skills or knowledge. A positive attitude leads to increased productivity, teamwork, problem-solving and quality. In contrast, a negative attitude can breed bitterness, resentment and ill health. While environment, experiences and education can influence one's attitude, as adults we are responsible for choosing to focus on the positive each day and consciously working to maintain a positive outlook.

When my stepson was 7-years-old, he attempted to convince
me to go on a ridiculously big roller coaster in Blackpool. As we
approached it, the screams from the coasterees grew louder and
louder. They were clearly terrifi ed, a fact which I pointed out in my
defence of ‘chickening out’ (his words). “But being scared is fun!”
he declared.
On the whole, I am not one who enjoys being scared. I’ve walked
out of a cinema before when covering my eyes and cowering
under a seat hasn’t been enough to stop the effects of a horror
fi lm. I spent my fi rst fi ve driving lessons in a car park before my
instructor convinced me to go out on the road. I even have trouble
changing a light bulb if it means I have to let go of the ladder. I’m
a wimp (stepson’s words again).
However, when I was 18 I moved to England from Europe, all
alone – no job, no home, no idea really! At the time, people told
me it was a brave thing to do (aside from those who told me I
really needed to plan it better and it was a stupid thing to do!).
I wasn’t scared at all, though. If anything, I was excited. It was
an adventure.
You see, not all fear is rational or irrational – it’s how we perceive
it. Fear can be good if we can channel and control it in the right
way. It can be a motivating factor, pushing you to take action
rather than avoiding and running away.
This business is a prime example. For many, one of the scariest
steps can be ‘sacking the boss’ and going full time with their
Kleeneze business. I’ve spoken to many people over the years who
have done that and pretty much every single person, with the
benefi t of hindsight, told me their only regret was that they hadn’t
done it sooner.
So what stopped them doing it? Fear. The fear of failure mainly.
Ironically, though, it was that fear that saw them succeed. That
fear guided them to jumping right in and working as hard as
possible at their business, so that they did succeed. They controlled
their fear rather than let the fear control them.
Fear can give us all sorts of excuses for not pursuing our goals and
dreams: You’re too old, you’re too young, you don’t know enough
yet, you can’t afford it, it won’t work. At the end of the day, it’s
easier to stay in the shadows. It’s comfortable in our comfort zone.
No one will see you there; no one will see you fail. Yet, you’ll also
never stand out while you’re there; you’ll never try something
new; you’ll never know what could have happened.
If you’re going to fear something, fear wasting your life on
something that doesn’t matter to you. Fear being mediocre.
Fear doing nothing. Fear regret! History has repeatedly shown
that we fail far more from not taking a risk than we do from being
brave and grabbing the opportunity. As they say, fortune favours
the bold!

If you’re going to fear something, fear wasting your life on
something that doesn’t matter to you. Fear being mediocre.
Fear doing nothing. Fear regret! History has repeatedly shown
that we fail far more from not taking a risk than we do from being
brave and grabbing the opportunity. As they say, fortune favours
the bold!

Employee News
Several employees were fortunate to be able to get away from the daily stress of con-
struction and enjoy a day of Red fishing and teambuilding in Louisiana. Everyone had
a blast and ate some fine Louisiana cuisine!

In May of this year a group of employees woke up at 4am in the morning to begin a 22 mile hike on the Kaibab trail of the
grand canyon from rim-to-rim. An adventure that would take anywhere between 16 to 24 hours of consistent walking and
climbing. Everyone's accomplishment did not take place over night. Months of preparation and planning took place for them
to be able to physically and mentally prepare themselves for this journey. By working together and encouraging one another
they were all able to accomplished their goal.

Employee Health Fair
Have you ever had to go to the Dr. for a check up? Does it feel like it’s a waste
of time? Do you ever tell yourself “I know I’m healthy, I don't need a Dr. to tell
me that.” Well, starting in January of 2015 employees of Maloney Glass and
Door will be able to go receive a “check up” either by your own physician or by
Tupelo Medical Group (which is free of charge with your insurance) and com-
pete with other employees to see who is the healthiest employee! Anytime dur-
ing the months of Jan/Feb bring the results that show weight, height, blood sug-
ar, blood pressure and total cholesterol. Then have it checked again from No-
vember until the Christmas party then we will compare results, and the top 3
biggest improvements will win! By turning in your results you can win up to 500
dollars! By comparing your results of your Jan/Feb physical and when you go in
to your physical in Nov/Dec the people with the most improvement will win. It’s
a Win-Win! For more information contact Benton or Brittany at 662-844-3331.

2. Message from the President
In May of this year I, along with a group of fellow employees hiked the Grand
Canyon from rim to rim. This trek was 21 miles with over 2 miles of vertical
elevation change. It took months of preparation and training to condition our
bodies both physically and mentally for this task. Along the trail we passed
several hikers who were not prepared for the long journey across the rocky,
hot and challenging trail. These hikers were truly suffering and I can only
image that they were regretting ever starting. In the Health and Benefits sec-
tion of this new letter its says a 15 min walk will add 3 years to your life ex-
pectancy, so completing this trek should add 168 years to my life? Maybe
not, but being in good shape for the task at hand will definitely make life
easier, allow me to finish at the front of the pack, and feel more rewarded
when finished. It’s the same in our careers, being in good physical and men-
tal condition will allow you to perform at your best, reduce downtime due to
sickness and make you a valuable team member. To continue to grow and
maintain our position as a leader in the construction industry, we need all
team members to be in there best shape for a long and prosperous career
with Century Construction.

On November 26th
employees of Maloney Glass and Overhead Door cele-
brated their accomplishment of working 90 days without a recordable acci-
dent. All employees were invited to enjoy a fine BBQ lunch and some fellow-
ship. Everyday worked without an accident is an accomplishment that
should be appreciated by all. It takes everyone working together to build a
successful safety record.
Safety
At Century, we want Safety to be at the forefront of everything we do. There
are times when we all have been guilty of complacency, taking shortcuts, or
simply disregarding the Safety guidelines. Some of the main excuses for
these are: “It’ll only take a second and nothing will happen” or “I’ve always
done it this way and nothing has ever happened.”
Well, I can’t re-grow a new eye or survive a 30’ fall and I’m pretty sure you
can’t either! We must always remember that it only takes a millisecond for
an accident to occur. Every OSHA standard and Century guideline is in
place because someone, somewhere was injured. We always want everyone
to go home safely to their families; we owe it to you and YOU OWE IT TO
YOUR FAMILY! Our rules and guidelines are not in place to burden you, but
to keep you injury free.
Remember, pay attention to your surroundings, follow the safety rules,
watch out for your fellow worker, and BE SAFE!
