Development -

Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Frozen.

• Lana Del Rey covered the song ‘Once Upon A Dream’ for the film - single released in January 2014 and was free for a
limited time through Google play. The song was also featured in the final trailer.

• Radio Adverts were played across a variety of UK stations (including CAPITAL FM). The trailer was also shown on ITV

• The film was released in the UK on May 28th 2014. It reached 1st place on its opening weekend at the box office. The
film was released in the US on May 30th.
• The film made $11 million on its opening weekend in the UK and $69 million in the US. The film was also the number 1
movie worldwide after its opening weekend as it made over $100 million globally in 3 days.
• UK residents could experience the film in a ‘D-Box’ Screen at Cineworld.

• January 2015 - Maleficent started showing on Sky Movies
• Maleficent is nominated for 1 Oscar for ‘Best Costume Design’ - an awards show that is globally known and
appreciated.
• Limited edition Maleficent and Aurora dolls were released in the Disney Store (manufactured in China).
• Social Media - An official Twitter page was set up in January 2011 called @Maleficent. The page asked audience to
participate in activities like ‘#MalefiSELFIE’ where followers would tweet selfies of themselves using the hashtag. This
ran from May-July 2014. A Facebook page was also created for the film. It became themed to Maleficent in November
2013. The twitter page has over 66,000 followers and the Facebook page has over 7 million likes.
