Vagrant is an open source tool that allows users to easily manage and provision virtual development environments. It was created in 2010 to help address issues with local development environments like lack of isolation, lack of shareability, and lack of repeatability. Vagrant uses virtualization technologies like VirtualBox to allow developers to run identical copies of environments regardless of the underlying operating system. It works by defining a configuration file that specifies things like the virtual machine box to use, shared folders, network settings, and provisioning scripts. This allows development teams to have consistent environments that can be easily destroyed and recreated.

1. Logstash is an open source tool for collecting, processing, and storing logs and other event data. It allows centralized collection and parsing of logs from various sources before sending them to Elasticsearch for storage and indexing. 2. Kibana provides visualization and search capabilities on top of the logs stored in Elasticsearch, allowing users to easily explore and analyze log data. 3. The combination of Logstash, Elasticsearch, and Kibana provides a replacement for commercial log management tools like Splunk, with the ability to collect, parse, store, search, and visualize logs from many different sources in a centralized way.

Smartquill

1) The Smart Quill is a pen invented by Lyndsay Williams of Microsoft Research that can transform handwritten notes into digital text without needing to write on a special pad. 2) It uses accelerometer technology and handwriting recognition software to detect the movements of writing and transcribe it to digital text, storing up to 10 pages of notes. 3) The pen has a small screen for reading stored information and powers off automatically when idle to save battery life. It allows handwritten notes to be transferred to other devices like phones and computers.

Wibree

Wibree is a new ultra low power radio technology that uses less power than Bluetooth to enable small, low-cost devices to connect wirelessly. It operates at 2.4GHz like Bluetooth but is 10 times more energy efficient. There will be two types of Wibree devices: stand-alone chips for small devices like heart rate monitors that need long battery life, and dual-mode Wibree-Bluetooth chips that allow Bluetooth devices to connect to tiny battery devices. Wibree will dramatically extend battery life and enable uses of wireless connectivity not previously possible for small devices relying on button cell batteries.

Event: Giffoni Open Makers Day 2013 Speaker: Fabrizio Lapiello BACS è una piattaforma elettronica ed informatica che migliora la mobilità dei disabili sensoriali della vista, estendendo l’utilizzo di un normale bastone da passeggio. Il suo obiettivo principale è quello di consentire in qualsiasi situazione di luminosità o condizione atmosferica il rilievo di ostacoli o dislivelli ad una distanza massima tarabile in base alle esigenze specifiche tra i 5 cm ai 4 metri, tale distanza consente di fatto ai disabili di scansare gli ostacoli in anticipo evitando la maggior parte dei pericoli presenti in strada. La piattaforma si divide in due parti, la prima parte è composta da una componente elettronica basata su Arduino, sensori ultrasonici, sensori per avvisi acustici e tattili (tramite impulsi vibrativi ) e una classica batteria alcalina da 9v ( in futuro sostituita da un sistema con ricarica integrata al litio, attualmente in studio ed in fase di test), la seconda parte della piattaforma è un sistema di algoritmi per il rilievo degli ostacoli ( a mezz’aria e ad altezza del capo ) e del fondo stradale ( feature principale dell’intero progetto ), quest’ultimo permette di rilevare piccole disconnessioni stradali ( come buche su marciapiedi spesso causa di incidenti anche per persone normodotate) e gradini in discesa o in salita
