Majoone Falasfa is a compound Unani drug. It is also called Madaat-ul-Hayaat i.e. Elixir of life. This grug was invented by a ancient Greek physician, Indrumakhas (Andromachos, the elder, court physician to King Nero). This compound drug was originally preapared for the intellectuals and people doing hard mental work, hence named Majoone Falasfa (A majoon for philosopher). Majoone Falasfa contains thirteen ingredients, which is used as tonic for vital organs (Heart, Liver, Brain, Kidney, Gonads), antidiuretic,aphrodisiac, appetizer, digestive, semenagogue, carminative, stomachic, lithotriptic, deobstruent, anti-arthritis, and tonic for gall bladder. It is used in senile dementia and to delay ageing.

Ain al-Hayat: This is the dedicated treatise on the subject of Geriatrics and Gerontology, authored by Mohammad Ibn Yusuf Al-Harawi around 1532 AD. The fundamentals of this treatise are based on the humoral theory of medicine. According to this doctrine, every organism gets a fixed amount of innate moisture from its parent at the time of conception that is utilized for the survival of life. Innate heat is retained in innate moisture that is used as a fuel for life. With the increase in age, the amount of innate moisture gradually decreases and ultimately becomes insufficient to maintain life leading to the death of an organism. This book is based on three objectives:
1. Theory of aging based on innate heat and moisture,
2. Description of drugs and regimens that strengthen the innate heat.

There are four Persian manuscripts of this treatise available. One copy is at the State oriental manuscript library and Research Institute, Hyderabad, one copy is at Raza Library, Rampur, and two copy at the Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences in Aligarh.
This treatise was translated into Urdu by prof S. Zillur Rahmanin 2007 and English by Ashfaque Ahmad IN 2019
Urdu translator: Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman, Professor, at the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, AMU, Aligarh. He was honored with Padma Shri in 2006 by the Government of India for his contribution to the field of medicine. He is the founder of Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences, Aligarh.
English Translator: Ashfaque Ahmad, Research Officer at CCRAS- National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad translated this treatise into English.
Author: The author of Ain al-Hayat, Mohammad Ibn Yousuf Al-Harwi was a Persian-born, Indian medical scholar of the 16th century. He also authored the Bahrul Jawaha, a medical dictionary. He came to India with emperor Babur in 1526 after the first war of Panipath. Yousuf Al-Harwi died in 1544 in India.

Firdausu'l-Hikmat or Paradise of wisdom was authored byIBN SAHL RABBAN AL-TABARI, Abu al-Hasan Ali (علی ابن سهل ربان طبری ) (circa 838 - circa 870)
Firdous al-Hikmah is one of the oldest encyclopedias of Islamic medicine, based on Syriac translations of Greek sources (Hippocrates, Galen Dioscorides, and others). It is divided into 7 sections and 30 parts, with 360 chapters in total. The work was eclipsed by those of Rabban al-Tabari's more famous pupil, Muhammad ibn ZakarÄ«a RÄzi (Rhazes). After writing the work in Arabic Rabban a-Tabari also translated it into Syriac, to give it wider usefulness. However, the information in Firdous al-Hikmah never entered common circulation in the West because it was not edited until the 20th century, when Mohammed Zubair Siddiqui assembled an edition using the five surviving partial manuscripts.

AUP, Bihar is the only representative voluntary organization of Doctors of Unani System of Medicine in Bihar. This
organization looks after the interest of Unani doctors as well as the well-being of the nation. This organization was formed in
January 2012 with the avowed objectives to the development of the Unani system of medicine and the country. Later in the
year 2021, the Association of Unani Physicians (AUP), Bihar, gets duly registered under the Societies Registration Act, 21 of
1860 by the Government of Bihar. At present, AUP is a well-established organization with its headquarter located in Patna,
Bihar. AUP, Bihar is committed to the maintenance of honor and dignity of the profession. The Association will continuously
work for the betterment of the Unani system of Medicine and fraternity. Last year, we fought against the discrimination
between Unani and other Indian systems of medicine. As you all know, we fought and won the case against the state health
society, Bihar for the post of community health officer, and finally they advertised a 20 % seat. It is still in LPA by the
Government of Bihar, and we are continuously monitoring them. AUP, Bihar, is also representing on behalf of Unani Doctors
in the court case of reallocation of seats in Government employment by the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Officers
Association, Patna, in Patna High court as well as in the Supreme court of India. In Bihar Government services, the existing
allocated quota for Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Unani Medicine is 50:30:20 respectively, of the total seats of AYUSH
system. In the recent past, the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Officers Association, Patna, has made an allegation that the
existing allocated quota is arbitrary and discriminatory. They argue to the Government of Bihar to modify the existing ratio,
after rejection of their argument the adopt the legal remedy gradually from Patna High Court to the Supreme Court of India.
In all such events, AUP, Bihar is representing party on behalf of Unani Doctors of the state. AUP, Bihar, is closely monitoring
the all-legal issues of the interest of Unani Doctors. We have demanded to the Bihar state government to establish three
new government Unani medical colleges. AUP has annually organized a National seminar to improve the educational and
professional skills of Unani Physicians since 2012. We are also organizing training programs, workshops, conferences, health
camps for the awareness of Unani medicine among the Unani Physicians and people of Bihar. In this sequence, AUP has
decided to organize a medical camp in February of 2023 in every district of Bihar for awareness and propagation of Unani
medicine. We are continuously searching for new areas of scope and employment of Unani Doctors.

Firdausu'l-Hikmat or Paradise of wisdom was authored byIBN SAHL RABBAN AL-TABARI, Abu al-Hasan Ali (علی ابن سهل ربان طبری ) (circa 838 - circa 870)
Firdous al-Hikmah is one of the oldest encyclopedias of Islamic medicine, based on Syriac translations of Greek sources (Hippocrates, Galen Dioscorides, and others). It is divided into 7 sections and 30 parts, with 360 chapters in total. The work was eclipsed by those of Rabban al-Tabari's more famous pupil, Muhammad ibn ZakarÄ«a RÄzi (Rhazes). After writing the work in Arabic Rabban a-Tabari also translated it into Syriac, to give it wider usefulness. However, the information in Firdous al-Hikmah never entered common circulation in the West because it was not edited until the 20th century, when Mohammed Zubair Siddiqui assembled an edition using the five surviving partial manuscripts.

AUP, Bihar is the only representative voluntary organization of Doctors of Unani System of Medicine in Bihar. This
organization looks after the interest of Unani doctors as well as the well-being of the nation. This organization was formed in
January 2012 with the avowed objectives to the development of the Unani system of medicine and the country. Later in the
year 2021, the Association of Unani Physicians (AUP), Bihar, gets duly registered under the Societies Registration Act, 21 of
1860 by the Government of Bihar. At present, AUP is a well-established organization with its headquarter located in Patna,
Bihar. AUP, Bihar is committed to the maintenance of honor and dignity of the profession. The Association will continuously
work for the betterment of the Unani system of Medicine and fraternity. Last year, we fought against the discrimination
between Unani and other Indian systems of medicine. As you all know, we fought and won the case against the state health
society, Bihar for the post of community health officer, and finally they advertised a 20 % seat. It is still in LPA by the
Government of Bihar, and we are continuously monitoring them. AUP, Bihar, is also representing on behalf of Unani Doctors
in the court case of reallocation of seats in Government employment by the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Officers
Association, Patna, in Patna High court as well as in the Supreme court of India. In Bihar Government services, the existing
allocated quota for Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Unani Medicine is 50:30:20 respectively, of the total seats of AYUSH
system. In the recent past, the Bihar State Homeopathic Medical Officers Association, Patna, has made an allegation that the
existing allocated quota is arbitrary and discriminatory. They argue to the Government of Bihar to modify the existing ratio,
after rejection of their argument the adopt the legal remedy gradually from Patna High Court to the Supreme Court of India.
In all such events, AUP, Bihar is representing party on behalf of Unani Doctors of the state. AUP, Bihar, is closely monitoring
the all-legal issues of the interest of Unani Doctors. We have demanded to the Bihar state government to establish three
new government Unani medical colleges. AUP has annually organized a National seminar to improve the educational and
professional skills of Unani Physicians since 2012. We are also organizing training programs, workshops, conferences, health
camps for the awareness of Unani medicine among the Unani Physicians and people of Bihar. In this sequence, AUP has
decided to organize a medical camp in February of 2023 in every district of Bihar for awareness and propagation of Unani
medicine. We are continuously searching for new areas of scope and employment of Unani Doctors.

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s Perspective
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.

Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.

Gastrointestinal Infections
GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTIONS result from the ingestion of pathogens that cause infections at the level of this tract, generally being transmitted by food, water and hands contaminated by microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Rotavirus among others that are generally contained in feces, thus configuring a FECAL-ORAL type of transmission.
Among the factors that lead to the occurrence of gastrointestinal infections are the hygienic and sanitary deficiencies that characterize our markets and other places where raw or cooked food is sold, poor environmental sanitation in communities, deficiencies in water treatment (or in the process of its plumbing), risky hygienic-sanitary habits (not washing hands after major and/or minor needs), among others.
These are generally consequences (signs and symptoms) resulting from gastrointestinal infections: diarrhea, vomiting, fever and malaise, among others.
The treatment consists of replacing lost liquids and electrolytes (drinking drinking water and other recommended liquids, including consumption of juicy fruits such as papayas, apples, pears, among others that contain water in their composition).
To prevent this, it is necessary to promote health education, improve the hygienic-sanitary conditions of markets and communities in general as a way of promoting, preserving and prolonging PUBLIC HEALTH.
Gastritis and Gastric Health
Gastric Health is one of the most relevant concerns in human health, with gastrointestinal infections being among the main illnesses that affect humans.
Among gastric problems, we have GASTRITIS AND GASTRIC ULCERS as the main public health problems. Gastritis and gastric ulcers normally result from inflammation and corrosion of the walls of the stomach (gastric mucosa) and are generally associated (caused) by the bacterium Helicobacter pylor, which, according to the literature, this bacterium settles on these walls (of the stomach) and starts to release urease that ends up altering the normal pH of the stomach (acid), which leads to inflammation and corrosion of the mucous membranes and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.
In addition to bacterial infections, gastritis and gastric ulcers are associated with several factors, with emphasis on prolonged fasting, chemical substances including drugs, alcohol, foods with strong seasonings including chilli, which ends up causing inflammation of the stomach walls and/or corrosion. of the same, resulting in the appearance of wounds and consequent gastritis or ulcers, respectively.

- 2. Majoone Falasfa Majoone Falasfa is a compound Unani drug. It is also called Madaat-ul-Hayaat i.e. Elixir of life. This grug was invented by a ancient Greek physician, Indrumakhas (Andromachos, the elder, court physician to King Nero). This compound drug was originally preapared for the intellectuals and people doing hard mental work, hence named Majoone Falasfa (A majoon for philosopher).

Ingredients of Majoone Falasfa The original preparation of Majoone Falasfa contained only ten ingredients viz,Filfil Siyah (P. nigrum), Filfil Daraz ( P. longum), Zanjabeel(Z. officinalis), Darchini (C. zeylanicum), Kundur (B. serrata),Balela ( T. belerica), Amla (E. officinalis), Chilghoza ( P.gerardiana), Sheetraj (P. zeylanica) and Babuna (M.chamomilla) but, there are certain variations regarding the weight and number of ingredients of the compound in different Unani formulations. The formula for preparation of Majoone Falasfa in National Formulary ofUnani Medicine (NFUM) contains thirteen ingredients in sugar or honey base.
- 5. Indication It is used as general tonic, cardiac tonic, nervine tonic, tonic for gall bladder and kidney, anti-arthritic, especially in backache and joint pain in large joints. It is also indicated for use in phlegmatic diseases. It helps for strengthening of gums and teeth. It is being used for enhancing memory, in dementia and in memory impairment. This is also used in elderly to delay effect of ageing.
