The document discusses the rise of mobile email and its importance. Some key points:
1) Mobile email usage is increasing significantly, with over 40% of the British population owning smartphones and 55% checking mobile email daily.
2) A large percentage (27%) of emails are now opened on mobile devices rather than desktop.
3) While mobile email usage is rising, only 20% of users find the mobile email experience as easy to use as the desktop version.
4) The document recommends using responsive design with one HTML layout that adapts to different devices to improve the mobile email experience.
The document discusses the NAO's use of email marketing. It provides information on:
1) Why email marketing is used (efficient, branded, easy to measure).
2) Who they communicate with (clients in topic groups 28%, survey groups 32%, graduates 36%, staff 4%).
3) What types of email campaigns are sent (reports, newsletters, events, surveys, recruitment, staff communications).
4) Examples and results of graduate recruitment and client newsletter campaigns, and lessons learned about testing, timing, engagement, creativity, and simplification.

The document outlines Suffolk Trading Standards' plan to modernize their communications by combining email updates with social media.
This document provides advice for changing email systems and tips for digital communications. It recommends getting high-level approval, using project management, focusing on audiences over departments, and testing designs before implementing changes. It also suggests blogging with archives, scheduling newsletters, using online forms for content, providing instructions internally, and using micro sign-up forms.
This document discusses email strategies for digital communications. It is from Blue State Digital, a firm that provides digital communications services. The document outlines that email is still a major driver of online action. It then provides some fundamentals of email strategy, such as integrating email into the larger communications strategy and using email to tell supporters a story over time. The document concludes by listing some tips for effective email, including having a clear call to action, being authentic, segmenting lists, testing elements, and thoroughly checking emails.
The document discusses the results of various email marketing tests, including which subject lines and days of the week perform best as well as whether segmenting emails by topic increases open and click rates. Segmenting emails by topic into categories like holiday activities, beauty treatments, gardening, and local markets increased the average open rate from 46% to 70% and the click rate from 20% to 55%. The recommendation is to do more targeted segmenting based on individuals' interests and focus email design on relevance rather than steering behavior.
Email helped cause a revolution in business news. The Birmingham Post saw its circulation drop from 200,000 in the 1980s to 100,000 by 2009 as a new website, Businessdesk.com, emerged to provide business news via email. The new website was able to reach readers more quickly and directly using email to share news and stories.
Alan Ferguson is the web manager at Central Bedfordshire Council who champions their email marketing. Their strategy focuses on consistency, relevant content without automation or spam. They have built their subscriber base to over 7,800 people across 114 topics and promote the service widely. They track key metrics like open and click-through rates to test improvements and ensure content is personalized.
The document contains 3 lists about pre-startup, starting up, and running a business. It also provides statistics from a 3.5 month email marketing campaign which show the open and click rates for pre-startup, starting up, and growing business audiences as well as the total unique visitors, email subscribers, and subscription signup rate.

It provides strategies for fixing issues like improving color contrast, making layouts resizable, trapping empty searches, and adding context to links. The document advocates fixing content, CSS, templates, and using hooks/filters and jQuery to target specific issues.
Mailcamp: Dave Worsell, GovDelivery (Driving Standards Agency)Helpful Technology
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) aims to engage drivers of all ages and experience types through its programs. However, it faced obstacles like managing multiple websites and limited resources. Through the DSA Direct service, it saw significantly higher engagement across its websites and social media channels. DSA Direct also collaborated with other government agencies to share subscribers, increasing its reach. This helped DSA better achieve its mission of promoting safer driving.
The document discusses best practices for email marketing. It recommends determining the purpose and objective of the email, crafting the subject line and content to match expectations and optimize delivery and results. It also suggests targeting the right audience at the right time, testing elements, and ensuring the user experience is simple, direct and smooth. The overall message is to send targeted, relevant, timely communications that deliver on promises to get email marketing right.
Using email surveys rather than postal surveys resulted in lower response rates but lower costs for a local government organization. Email surveys in 2010 received over 16,000 invites but only a 11% response rate compared to a 27% response rate for postal surveys in 2009 sent to 3,500 people. Factors like incorrect addresses, spam filters, and indifference affected response rates for email surveys. Respondents in older age groups were more likely to respond to both email and postal surveys.
This document discusses strategies for engaging stakeholders in online consultations through automated notifications and different levels of participation from informing to collaborating. It also examines the benefits of managed group communications over traditional email discussion lists, such as having notifications, replies, and discussions associated with content in one place. Finally, it considers the next stage of email evolution and whether legacy systems can support more structured and application-integrated communications.

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
