This user manual provides you with information on how to configure and use the Daily Deal
extension for Magento stores.

II. Daily Deal
Magento Daily Deal allows the store owner to create different promotional campaigns for
any product in the store. It enriches your deal site to encourage customers by setting the discount
price and length of time below each deal and showing how much money they can save. Also, this
module enables new deals to be displayed regularly; therefore, customers can’t help checking
your site every day. Particularly, customers can share the deals in their social networks including
Facebook or Twitter and help your Magento store more and more popular.
III. Configuration setting
After the installation is successfully conducted, you need to do initial setup for this new
extension. Login your magento admin panel and go to System > Configuration > Magebuzz
Add-ons > Daily Deal or directly go to Daily Deal on the menu bar
You will see three setting groups as following:
- Manage Deals
- Settings
- Manage Subscribers

1. Manage deals
This feature allows you to create a new deal & edit the existing ones.
1.1 Create a new deal:

There are two smaller groups for you to complete before running this new deal:
- Products: A full list of items will be shown and you should stick to any product which you
want to make deal. For example, I choose HTC Touch Diamond for our today’s deal.

- Information: After that, you move to “Information” tab to insert the details for the deal.

There are three blocks including Product Name, Product Price & Quality in Stock already
filled after you have completed selecting products for your deals.
What you need to do now is to complete the left blanks:
 Start Time: Here you are required to enter the date and time to start the deal (Click on
Select date button to choose)
 End Time: Similarly, you have to fill the time to close the deal.
 Deal Price: Here you can specify the price you wish to run for the deal.
 Quality for sale via Daily Deal: This field helps identify the total number you want to
put on sales.
 Status: There are four statuses to apply for a deal such as Queued, Running, Ended and
Disabled.
After filling all required information, remember to click on Save Item or Save and Continue
Edit button to save this deal.

1.2 Edit an existing deal
Should you have already got a certain number of deals in your site, you can let them run
right away or click on “Edit” if you wish to make some changes.

2. Manage settings
To manage settings of the extension, you must log in to the backend > Daily Deal > Settings.

Then you can configure the settings as you want.

2.1 General setting

1 Enable Deal Yes Allow the deal to be active
2 Show previous deal Yes Enable to show the deals already closed
3 Show coming deal Yes Allow to display the coming deal in the daily deal
page
4 Show share buttons Yes By choosing Yes, you can enable customers to
share the deals with their friends via Facebook,
Twitter or Gmail.
5 Show deal on the left/right

6 Round up saving number No Enable to round up the saving number for the deal

2.2 Daily Deal Subscription

 Allow customer to subscribe to receive new daily deal notification: If Yes, whenever a
new deal is created, a notification email will be automatically sent to customer’s email.
 Email Sender: You can select appropriate departments or individuals to be the sender of
notification emails.
 Email Template: Here we can specify the template for the “Notification email”.
 Intro Message: You are allowed to edit the content in the introduction message.
 Thank You Message: Add your message to the body of the template so that customers
will see it when they finish their subscription.

In the backend, you can view all the customers who subscribe to get notification emails on your
daily deal updates.

4.1 View Daily Deal Page
When customers access the daily deal page, they can see all the deals arranged into three
different blocks including Today’s Deals, Coming Deals & Previous Deals

4.2 View Daily Deal on Product Page
When customers view a product on a product page, if this product has being dealt a special price,
the information of the deal will be shown. It can be seen from our demo site as below:

4.3 Deal on sidebars
If customers visit a page that allows showing sidebars, they can see some deals. The number of
deals displayed on the sidebar is set in the admin panel. The Daily deal block will be shown as
the following:

Note:
- All the Deals are available in www.yourdomain.com/dailydeal
- To show daily deal block to a CMS page, please add following code: {{block
type='dailydeal/dailydeal' name='dailydeal' template='dailydeal/deals.phtml'}}
- If you want to use daily deal in a phtml file, please add this code: $this-
>getLayout()->createBlock('dailydeal/dailydeal')-
>setTemplate('dailydeal/deals.phtml')->toHtml();
IV. Common problems
Here are some common problems you can face when installing module.
1. See 404 Page Not Found when going to Dailydeal > Settings in backend.
If you see this error, don’t worry. You just need to log out the backend and then log in again. The
problem should be gone now.
