Looking for champagne time with a view? The Grand
Palais has never been grander for within you will find one
of the chicest of Parisian rendezvous, the Mini Palais bar
& restaurant. It is a delicious moment inside or outside
in the sunlight or moonlight for a meal with a glass of
champagne. The menu includes several Veuve Clicquots,
including the 2004 vintage rosé and a superb Dom
Pérignon rosé, 2000.
Meanwhile, excellent champagne shopping can be found
at Dilettantes. This wine cellar is devoted exclusively
to Champagne with over 125 different kinds on offer,
selected by Fanny Heucq, the daughter of a Champagne
wine grower. Tastings are also organised.
And through an elegant shop window focusing on the
luxurious world of Champagne, visitors are invited into the
Boutique Champagne Arlaux. The boutique carries the full
range of the fine champagnes made by the Arlaux family
whose vineyards are found on the mountain of Reims, one
of the region’s finest growing districts. Private tastings with
an interpreter can be organised.

Going to fashion week in Paris.
If you’re lucky enough to get
invited you should definitely go
to some shows because it’s pretty
crazy.
R by 45rpm, a great Japanese

they wrinkle but it’s cool so you

down the South of France and
stopped at restaurants that
nobody knows and you can stop
when you want, go have lunch on
some hill with a church next to it,
and just drive. Rent a car and drive
outside of Paris to the countryside,
it’s beautiful.
Armani Privé just makes me feel

Young fashion designer Philipp Plein
is known for his laughing skull in his
designs and his love for rock chic,
and his A/W 2013/2014 collection
doesn’t stray too much from what
has successfully worked for the
German-born designer.
Escaping to his house in Cannes
to design, his latest collection
features leather, fur and studs.
Sexy cool and naturally including
a couple of pieces showcasing
the laughing skull, which Plein
describes as “representing
strength, protection, power”, the
collection is chic Goth with very
classic pieces that can easily work
into any wardrobe. With slim-
line leather pants, studded biker
jackets and knitted sweater dresses,
Plein’s winter look is hot.

What should every woman
and man have in his and her
wardrobe?
For a lady, I always say a pair of high
heels. When you don’t feel good, put
high heels on and you will walk over
the people, it is like being on a throne.
For a man, I would say a leather jacket. It
gives style and a rock attitude to every
simple outfit.

LUXURY AT
THE VILLAGELa Vallée Village is undoubtedly one of the fashion capital’s most
stylish attractions complete with elegant streets and chic boutiques.
The fashion outlet, designed to resemble a quaint little village, is a
short trip from the French capital and boasts all your favourite brands
including Burberry, Céline and Givenchy.

With over 120 French and international
luxury and fashion brands and with sav-
ings of up to 60%, it is not hard to see why
this is quite the luxurious shopping des-
tination for any and all fashionistas. And
this season La Vallée Village is celebrating
the creative and artistic heritage of luxury
brands by launching their A Touch of Chic
campaign, celebrating the versatility of
wool.
As part of the campaign La Vallée Village
is organising different activities through-
out the month for you to participate in
and partake in the celebration including
art installations that are showcased by The
Uniqverse Studio featuring playful yarns of
wool. Pop-up stores are also showcasing
a selection of unique wool creations and
fun workshops are set up for you to learn
how to knit.

Further focusing on creativity and
innovation, La Vallée Village’s art gallery,
Espace La Vallée Village, is also hosting
an exhibition entitled Les Métiers d’Art,
revealing the savoir-faire of three young
artists from the world of fashion. Janaïna
Milheiro, Christine Phung and Clotilde
Toussaint’s worlds of art are put on show
with iconic pieces from their respective
collections showcased, allowing the
visitors to the gallery to discover each of
their unique talent in blending tradition
and innovation and creating beautifully
crafted pieces.
Marvel at Janaïna Milheiro’s
embroidery where the textile designer
weaves feathered silk and lace, creating
one-of-a-kind pieces while designer
Christine Phung’s work is a blend of
artisanal techniques of pleating and
patchwork with contemporary graphic
design, resulting in multi-layered
construction and architectural draping.
Meanwhile, milliner Clotilde Toussaint’s
hats, fascinators and hair accessories are
the beautiful result of marrying texture
and shape.
A “vision of modernity”, this exhibition
is an artfully chic way to end your day
of shopping at the Village, giving you
an inside look at how tradition and
modernity intertwine to bring you more
fabulous fashions.

fastener for ease of use despite the façade
of laces, raised toes to prevent the child
from stumbling, these shoes accompany the

Steffen
Weinstok,
the General
Manager
of Lufthansa
France &
Benelux
Could you please
share with our
readers your top travelling tips?
The best advice is always to check-in online
with your mobile phone to save time.
What is the best thing about working for
an airline?
To me it means being open-minded to the
world and being able to share international
experiences and a passion for planes and
technology.
How often do you travel?
Unfortunately not as often as I wish.
Which city is your favourite airport lounge?
What makes it the best?
Not very surprising, but honestly, Frankfurt!
Since the new Terminal A opened we’ve been
happy to offer the travellers easy and quick
connections, and more time for shopping and
relaxing in the Lufthansa Lounges.
What are your favourite travel destinations?
Hong Kong, Delhi and Miami.
Do you prefer big cities or country towns?
Big cities for the energy, but it reminds me of
business so [I prefer] country towns for family
holidays. I fell in love with “la Normandie”.
What do you like to do when in Paris?
Spontaneously go to a concert, have a drink.
Everything is possible at the last minute. Just
take some time to enjoy watching people
from a café.
Describe your perfect day in Paris…
Exploring and discovering new places with
my kids.
What is your favourite bar?
Kong, [which was] designed by Philippe
Starck and Georges. I like particularly its
amazing spectacular view of Paris.
What is your favourite restaurant?
Maison Blanche.
What is your favourite museum?
Georges Pompidou, because of the original
contemporary exhibitions. And Museum
Jacquemart André, I like very much this hotel
particulier.
Where do you go for a traditional
French meal?
La Laiterie Sainte Clotilde near the Invalides
in the 7th Arrondissement. A small and
excellent French restaurant.
Do you prefer a glass of red wine or
white wine?
A glass of Bordeaux red wine after 7pm.
Do you prefer baguettes or croissant?
Baguette AND croissant… Both is the
best choice!

In Paris, a fine place for luxury chocolates is
Debauve & Gallais, chocolate makers to the
kings of France and the oldest chocolate house
in Paris, which was founded in 1800. Sulpice
Debauve, pharmacist of King Louis XVI, opened
with his nephew, Mr. Gallais, a chocolate
factory whose quickly rising fame made it the
appointed supplier of the kings Louis XVIII,
Charles X and Louis-Philippe and the house has
remained in the same family since then.
The house’s establishments are where the
genuine lovers of true French dark chocolate
rendezvous. The Left Bank shop opened in
1819 and is inscribed on the French Historic
Monument List, while the Right Bank boutique
is doted with a Louis XVI style. Debauve &
Gallais grind and blend themselves the fine
beans that go into their chocolates, obtaining
different strengths of cacao, reaching even 99
percent in some chocolates. They were the first
to grind beans using a white marble grinder
of their own making and won gold medals at
International Expositions going back to 1878,
1889 and 1900.
For over two centuries the house of Debauve
& Gallais has been offering recipes that they
have remained faithful to throughout their
history. And today the house offers more than
40 varieties of chocolate including a delicious
raspberry ganache that offers a unique gourmet
moment while the succulent truffles are made
with a specially blended dark chocolate. With
over 200 recipes, the savoir-faire of the house
resides in the blending of chocolates from
different origins and once they arrive in France
they are tested and tasted to obtain the perfect
mélange.
Perpetuating a tradition of chocolates for
health, rich in cocoa content, the know-how
has been handed down from generation to
generation and is currently in the care of Paule
Cuvelier. And renewing with its 19th century
origins, the house, with a tea master, is now
blending again its own line of fine teas.

Chocolate, a nectar of millennia, has been
with us since Antiquity and most likely even
before, arriving in Europe on the heels of
the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs. The
Europeans added milk, sugar and vanilla
to it to reduce its natural bitterness
and it became, in Europe, as it was
in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, a
luxury product. In France, the title and
function of King’s Chocolate Maker was
first created by Louis XIV whose wife
and queen, Maria Theresa of Austria,
was mad about chocolate.
