1) Madonna is considered a postmodern artist because she frequently changed her musical style and image over her career to keep up with trends. 2) She released her album "The Next Best Thing" in 1998 which featured different musical styles than her previous work such as electronic beats, folk guitars, and heavy vocoder usage. 3) Throughout her career, Madonna provoked controversy through her use of religious symbols in music and a sexually explicit book, though she later attempted to soften her image.

2. What Is Postmodern Music.. Music postmodernism could be described as something being so bad that is good. A recent example of this is Jedward, absolutely terrible at singing, however so bad they become cool. Also postmodern artist, are them that change their image or genre of music from extreme to extreme. The best example of this is David Bowie. Another example i feel is Madonna, changing rapidly, but to keep up with the latest trends. Need to be shot

3. Madonna .. Background Madonna was born in 1958. Overall she has released over 15 albums; all of which have been in the top ten best selling countries on the planet. Her songs, her music, her books, her interviews, as well as the outfits she wears make up the different identities she tries to make.

4. The Next Best Thing Album After starting off her music career in 1998 she produced an album called ‘The Next Best Thing’ Musically, the album is different from what Madonna had done in the past. The album featured dark electronic beats ("Impressive Instant"), folk guitars ("Don't Tell Me", "I Deserve It", "Gone"), and the heavy use of the vocoder, which would appear again on later Madonna albums. Madonna also sang in French on the song "Paradise (Not for Me)", and in Spanish on the song "Lo Que Siente La Mujer" (What It Feels Like for a Girl), which appeared on disc two of the Special Edition. The song, "Runaway Lover", was an up-tempo dance track which differed from the crystalline perfection of her previous album. This is a prime example how Madonna has varied her change in music and styles within one album.

5. Her use and abuse of Christian symbols have offended many, for example the single "like a prayer". Then in 1992, people were also offended at the crude ways, for example she published a book titled 'Sex' which contained degrading sexual practises. The fact that Madonna could produce and star in such a pornographic book put her beyond the pale for most. Furthermore, she then attempted to soften her image to a more sophisticated and elegant look. Her most recent Album is ‘Hard Candi’ where she collaborated with Justin Timberlake to update her image to fit with the most popular starts around now.
