Young scientists at the Kaunas kindergarten "Zilvitis" in Lithuania participated in the Nordplus project "Kids go green STEAM" to conduct hands-on science experiments exploring topics like water flotation, clay properties, plant growth under different conditions, the characteristics of stones and how they interact with water, what happens to pine cones in water, how plants are colored and the structure of plants, and whether vegetables can regrow without roots when placed in water. The kindergarteners explored these science concepts through play and discovery to learn that science helps explain how everyday things work.
This interim evaluation document evaluates the "Kids go green STEAM" project at the Kaunas kindergarten "Zilvitis". It asks questions to determine if the children sort waste, give things new life, talk about waste sorting with family/school, support environmental protection, and if they found the "Kids go green STEAM" project useful.
Our kindergarten team is ready to play traditional European games such as hopscotch from Greece, pentovola from Ancient Greece, and games from Turkey like "Day and Night" and "Old Cushion" that two-year-olds enjoy. We are also trying games from other countries including "Rubabandera" from Italy, "Kapsul Game" from Reunion Island, and "The Monkey" from Portugal, as well as Irish football and one of France's most popular games.
Sandrino, an Italian visitor, spent time with the children at the Karmelaval Kindergarten sharing aspects of Italian culture like making necklaces, bells, pasta, and masks of La Befana. The children learned about Italy through craft activities led by Sandrino and a parents quiz about Italian associations like food, gestures, weather, and people. At the end of his visit, Sandrino said goodbye and thanked the children for their attention.
The document describes summer activities at a kindergarten in Karmelava. The activities included a summer camp, making decorations for outdoor activities, tasks from Portugal and Ireland involving underwater worlds and rosaries, preparing snacks for camp participants, making flying plates and competing in a flying plate competition, making huge soap bubbles using STEAM, painting on transparent plastic sheets, glass bead art, and playing Pétanque for both children and teachers.
This document outlines various outdoor education activities for students including a visit to the zoo to see wild animals, an activity to creatively reuse garbage to make an elephant sculpture, and engaging in physical activities in nature. It also mentions visits to a wildlife museum, airport, deer park, train ride in a city park, and a local village to learn about homemade food.
Drama can be an effective teaching strategy to engage students and help them learn. Role playing and acting out scenarios allows students to embody different perspectives and apply their knowledge in experiential ways. When used appropriately, drama in the classroom promotes active learning, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills in a fun and memorable manner.
Water activities will be offered as part of the summer school program in July 2015. Students will have the opportunity to participate in recreational activities involving water. The summer school session will take place next month.
The document describes a traditional Bulgarian cuisine day at the Latinka kindergarten in Bulgaria. The children helped prepare cold soup, stuffed peppers, banana bread, and yogurt for dessert. They learned how to make traditional Bulgarian dishes like tarator soup and banitsa bread. The goal was to teach the children about their country's cuisine through hands-on learning activities.
This document provides instructions for three activities to develop children's skills: 1) Making figures out of salty dough to develop fine motor skills. Children make shapes and decorate them. 2) Cutting and coloring geometric shapes to reinforce shape recognition. Children make pictures using cutouts. 3) An arithmetic domino game to practice numbers 1-6. Children make dominos by gluing numbers onto cards.
The document describes activities that a kindergarten in Bulgaria called "Latinka" did with the children on April 1st, International Day of Humor and Jokes. They played fun games like fishing in an inflatable pool, carrying eggs on spoons, popping balloons with hands, and catching bubbles. One game had children feeding stuffed animals with their eyes closed, which was judged by the cooks. The children were rewarded with sweets instead of points for the games. Laughter and joking around was encouraged for health. The kindergarten was participating in an Erasmus+ project called "Puppets mission: childhood without borders" from 2014 to 2016.
Traditional Bulgarian cuisine developed from the mixing of Thracian, Slavic, and Bulgar cuisines beginning in 681 with the establishment of the Bulgarian state. Many classic Bulgarian dishes are prepared according to old recipes that have been passed down for centuries. Some signature dishes include Shopska salad, beans in a pot, hotchpotch, and tarator soup. White brined cheese and yogurt are also very commonly used ingredients in Bulgarian cooking. Bulgarian cuisine offers a variety of salads, soups, baked goods, and other dishes that make use of local vegetables, meats, cheeses and other ingredients.
April Fool's Day is celebrated around the world on April 1st each year. In Bulgaria, it is believed the tradition of lying on April 1st originated from the Slavs and their perception of the changing weather in April. Clever Petar, a folk hero from 16th-17th century Bulgaria known for his wisdom and ingenuity, is often featured in jokes and stories told on April Fool's Day. On this day, many Bulgarians engage in joking and trying to trick each other, believing it brings good luck if you can fool someone before noon.
The document discusses using music and dance as teaching approaches in pre-school education. Some specific activities mentioned include having children listen to instruments, march to music, listen and draw to music, and work on choreographies involving basic movements. It also provides brief information about Midsummer Day traditions in some cultures, such as lighting bonfires and singing and dancing on this day.
The document discusses music and dance activities at a school, including regular music and dance lessons in the classroom and gym, performances on stage three times a year, an annual musical where the oldest children perform divided into singing, playing instruments, and stage design groups, a "play instruments project" where children learn to play instruments and make them, and a theater day where children dance and sing in a real theater.
The document discusses the use of digital boards in classrooms:
1) Each classroom has a digital board connected to a beamer that teachers use for daily schedules, instructions, and teaching various subjects.
2) The boards allow teachers to provide visual instruction that is aligned with what students see in their books.
3) After instruction, students can practice topics on computers using various educational software programs.
The kindergarten uses a Facebook group to share information with parents, allow communication between parents and teachers, and motivate children, as there are no computers for student use in the school. Rules have also been established regarding the use of smart phones in the classrooms.
This document provides information about Easter traditions in Romania. It discusses several Easter traditions, including fasting during Lent, dyeing eggs red using leaves or special techniques to symbolize Jesus' resurrection, baking "pasca" bread filled with sweet white cheese, eating lamb steak and tripe, and lighting candles in church on the Resurrection night. The document also mentions Palm Sunday traditions of bringing home willow twigs and greeting each other by saying "Jesus has resurrected!" until Ascension Day while cracking dyed eggs.
This project aimed to promote inclusion and diversity in education through puppetry shows. Schools from Italy, Greece, Portugal and Turkey collaborated over 2014-2016 to develop bilingual puppet shows addressing topics like immigration, cultural diversity and tolerance. The goal was to use puppetry to help young students understand different cultures and accept others.
Students at a school had a traditional clothes day to learn about the history and culture of Lithuania. They learned about how traditional Lithuanian clothing has changed over time by studying the past and present styles. As part of an Erasmus+ project called "Puppets mission: childhood without borders", students participated in drama and role-playing activities related to Lithuanian culture and traditions.
