The lungs are located in the chest cavity, between the heart and underneath the ribs. They help with breathing by taking in oxygen when we inhale and releasing carbon dioxide when we exhale, between 15 to 25 times per minute. The lungs need blood to transport the oxygen they take in to the rest of the body and limbs, as without blood circulating oxygen the lungs would only be able to sustain life for about a minute.

- 3. What do the lungs do? The lungs help us breathe in and out anywhere from 1525 times per minute. When you breathe the carbon dioxide goes out and more oxygen comes in. They take the oxygen. The lungs job is to take the oxygen into our blood.
- 4. Why do the lungs need blood The lungs need blood to transport the oxygen to our limbs. If we had no blood our lungs could not provide oxygen and we couldn’t live for more than a minute
