As a project construction manager I work from the project office and Im responsible for
the overall planning, direction, organization, and budgeting of all construction or
maintenance work on the project to the highest safety and quality levels within time and
costs constraints. During FEL3, I participate in the conceptual development of a
construction project and oversees its organization, scheduling and implementation
strategy.
Duties
•Responsible, with support of the Project Manager and Safety Manager, for all safety
planning associated with the project construction execution methods selection.
•Responsible through the constructability coordinator to set up and oversee the
constructability process.
•Coordinates with the client, project management, and project services in identifying
required reporting procedures and formats for client and company management needs;
•Ensures Construction Work Packages (CWP) are defined to a level sufficient for a level3
schedule.
•Ensures CWPs are coordinated with Engineering and Procurement.
•Ensures corporate policies and procedures are fully implemented.
•Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and
procedures as necessitated by jobsite conditions;
•Reviews and approves construction estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules;
•Reviews construction/erection drawings and specifications prepared for the project for
economic constructability, develop strategies for erection interfaces, determine
appropriate construction methods, and pre-empt problem areas;
•Ensures the necessary permits and licenses (notice of project, insurance certificates,
worker’s compensation, environmental permits, etc.) are identified and obtained prior to
the start of construction activities on site;
•Coordinating role with the project manager, design engineers, procurement, planning
and scheduling and other personnel in setting priorities to ensure timely performance.
•development of site organization and staffing requirements required to execute
construction activities within project schedule and acceptable costs;
•I Direct, monitor and motivates subordinate construction specialists in their
performance and direct their activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are
achieved;
•I establish the construction requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization;
•I Provide construction technical support to other site functions as needed;
•I ensure that the Project Manager is always kept well informed of construction
concerns;
•I ensure adherence to all local regulations and statutory requirements in site activities
planning;

•I assist the Procurement team to review contractual agreements with clients, suppliers,
and contractors;
•I liaise with client representatives as required to ensure shutdowns, relocations, tie-ins,
etc. will be planned safely and in a timely manner with minimum disruption;
•Recommends the requirements for construction resources and strategies to meet the
schedule in each area;
•I play a supporting role participating in the labour studies, manpower sourcing exercise
and the establishment of the industrial relations strategy;
•Im able to Co-operate with the Commissioning Manager in the planning of transfer
packages.
• Im able to Co-ordinate the preparation and issue of the Construction Execution Plan.
Essential Requirements
•Im able to demonstrate a focus in construction phase of project delivery, and have
extensive knowledge of HS&E procedures, safe work practices, and applicable legislation;
•I have 5 years previous construction management experience.
