Lufthansa began domestic flights in Germany in 1955 and started using jet aircraft in 1965 with the delivery of its first Boeing 707 cargo plane. In 1975, Lufthansa placed its first order for Airbus aircraft, specifically three A300 planes. Lufthansa now flies to 260 global destinations and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005.
