Our LED lighting solutions,
Efficiency & Well-being at the service of Health
Lighting plays a major role in an environment where stress and anxiety are omnipresent.
A vector of emotions and communication, it enables the creation of a unique coloured,
soothing, comfortable, friendly and appropriate atmosphere for a medical environment
and has a direct effect on the psychological state of persons present. Health services
require reliable and long-lasting lighting solutions enabling correct diagnosis, visual
relaxation and comfort for both patients and medical staff.
At a time when technological progress is never-ending and more and more specific
regulations and standards are applied in relation to lighting, Lucibel’s health sector lighting
proposes ever more efficient and innovative LED lighting solutions. Perfectly designed
and appropriate for the lighting of reception areas, waiting rooms, corridors, wards,
examinationrooms,operatingtheatres,etc.,oursolutions,certified“Nobiologicalhazard”,
represent no risk to skin or eyes. Thanks to our customised solutions and fast and easy
installation, Lucibel is able to propose functional lighting solutions for the creation of
your own lighting environments offering considerable energy savings in terms of running
costs (reduction of energy costs) and reduction of maintenance expenditure (working life
of 50,000 hours, easy servicing).
As people are our main concerns, our aim is to meet the needs and expectations of health
sector professionals, patients, visitors and technical staff.

Health establishments pay more and more attention to products certified
“Photo-biological harmlessness”, standard NF EN 62471. This standard proposes classification
of products in 4 categories corresponding to the level of risk the light beam represents to human tissue
(skin and eyes). The entire core range of Lucibel products has been certified free of any
photo-biological hazard since 2011.

Calculation of the working life of a LED product (50 000h / 5.7 years):
Standards & regulations
relative to workplace lighting
Workplace lighting is a key environmental factor as it contributes towards providing
appropriate working conditions for employees and allows them to accomplish their tasks
correctly. It must therefore allow correct execution of tasks and provide a feeling of
well-being. It meets the strict requirements of the European standard NF EN 12464-1,
which defines the level of workplace lighting necessary to guarantee visual comfort and
enhance performance.
The standard stipulates the minimum lighting values to be respected taking into account
various factors such as the risk of glare and/or visual fatigue, the risks of heating effects,
burns, servicing of lighting elements…
The head of the establishment must ensure the level of lighting is sufficient. The lighting
requirements listed are sub-divided into 31 categories and 360 types of premises
including, in the health sector: examination rooms, operating theatres, intensive care
wards, dental practises, … corresponding to all situations.

3 main lighting
criteria

IRC -
Quality
The minimum values for these 3 criteria to be taken into account may vary considerably from
one site to another. These values have been selected to be as close as possible to the needs
and expectations of each profession: precision for operating theatres, comfort for waiting rooms,
visual relaxation for offices…
For example, here are some values required in various zones in the health sector
(value at ground level):
Em UGR IRC
Waiting room / Reception area 200 22 80
Admin offices 500 19 80
Stairwells 150 25 40
Intensive care wards 100 19 90
Treatment rooms / Examination 300 - 500 16 90
Operating theatres 1000 19 90
Wards 100 19 80
Interior walkways
day night day night day night
200 50 22 22 80 80
Dental practises

500 1000 19 19 90 90
The standard AFNOR NF X35-103, a voluntarily applied standard, describes the ergonomic principles
and a method adopted to define the key elements of workplace lighting.
The stakes are high as well adapted workplace lighting helps avoid visual fatigue and accidents in relation
with inadequate lighting. The level of lighting must be adapted to the true working conditions to allow
execution of tasks under optimum comfort conditions.
For example, the average lighting values must be corrected for persons over the age of 45 (increase
the level of lighting) for a visual task containing details or in the case of hazardous condition.
