1 Backup Electric
Power System
Project Duration
From July 2014 to Till Now
Project DESCRIPTION:
Development of Electric power backup system for 777X
program, the scope includes complete system life cycle
development activities.
The backup electric system includes two engine-drive
generators and one integrated converter/control unit to provide
the redundancy of electrical sources equivalent to a three-
engine airplane. Automation of the system is achieved by the
use of state-of-the-art, microprocessor-based control units that
perform system control, protection, and built-in-test functions.
Each control unit has redundant two-way communication
through an ARINC 629 communication bus that requires
significantly fewer discrete wires than similar systems,
allowing considerable reduction of the interface circuits and
reduction in weight.

Project Description
The Fourth Generation SPDA is an Integrated Modular Avionics
(IMA) product. The Product provides Secondary Power
Management and Distribution allowing for application specific
utility management functions for the target airframe application .The
SPDA is part of the HS Electric Power Distribution System (EPDS)
which distributes AC and DC power from aircraft electrical busses to
the utilization loads on the aircraft. The Secondary Power
Distribution Assembly (SPDA) product is designed to provide three
types of aircraft system solutions i.e. Supply and control of one or
more aircraft utility functions, Remote Data Acquisition and
Communication gateway and protocol
translator. A master SPDA is used to control multiple satellite
SPDAs. This master/satellite configuration for the SPDA is used to
permit expansion of I/O controlled by one processor group resource
in the master. The Core SW provides the basic platform to power up
a product, communicate with external tools, run application tasks
and interface to the Microprocessor/Communications board
(processor LRM) peripherals.
Role & Responsibilities
• Worked for the Verification & Validation of BSP (Board
Support Package) of CORE software for 4th Gen SPDA
(Secondary Power Distribution Assembly) project.
• Writing the SVCP (Software Verification Cases and
Procedures) for the requirements.
• Writing the RBT test case procedures for the requirements.
• Writing the test scripts for the SVCPS by using the
WINDRIVER Scripting commands.
• Discussing with Onsite coordinator for solving project
related issues.
