Loss of Innocence Emil Pulido
Loss of Innocence: No more Santa Clause
Gone is the Tooth Fairy
Forget the stork that brought you!
Or wishing upon that star
Loss of innocence means knowing that not all dogs go to heaven
But that dogs really die, especially run over ones.
It means meeting bullies
Having to work too young
Taking on adult responsibilities too soon, like protecting a sibling
Realizing that life isn’t black or white
Losing innocence sometimes means losing faith in your parents
It may mean losing faith in your faith
It is realizing that the world is not perfect
Priests aren’t perfect
Dad isn’t perfect
Mom isn’t perfect either
So life is real
But it doesn’t mean you have to be a coward
