assessment – technology and sustainability.
Implemented in several stages included
metadata/files importation, training to focal
points (country offices) and mainly:
Institutional cultural change.
Implement IRIS in the routine of the
Organization and be transparent to the
users.

• Communities and collections identified in accordance to the needs of the Organization
and the standards from WHO’s global repository
• Align with PAHO Editorial Policy – PAHO IRIS established as the official platform for
PASB Governing Bodies, articles, technical-scientific publications, historical photos…
• Decentralized process (Headquarters, country offices and Pan American centers)
• Identification of Doblin Core metadata fields and gaps/specific needs to be filled with
qualified fields
• Country Office responsible for the publication (paho.source.centercode)
• PAHO Strategic Plan 2014-2019 (paho.subject)
• Is featured? (paho.isfeatured)
• Is WHO translation? (paho.whotranslation)

5. Network of Institutional
Repositories
• PASB is being able to support Ministries of Health and other public
health institutions in the Region to implement their own repositories
and institutional memories
• Implemented and ongoing initiatives
• Dominican Republic, Ministry of Public Health
• El Salvador, Ministry of Public Health
• Puerto Rico, Department of Health
• Brazil, Fundação Nacional de Saúde (with BIREME)

• Oversee the Project and liaison with WHO Global IRIS

• Technological aspect of DSPACE, and relevant systems and processes

(Institutional Memory recovery)
Coordinate the quality of data imported (metadata)
Keep the standards and quality control of
documents indexed by focal points (keep manuals
updated and new focal points trained accordantly)
