19. TOA Based Geolocation Server
• No GPS or any special hardware or firmware required
• Can be enabled on the KONA Mega and Macro gateways for a one-time fee
• No encryption on timestamps
• Multiple gateways receive the same UL packet from an end-device and estimate its time of arrival and
frequency offset (FO)
• The gateways are equipped with GPS receivers
• to discipline the gateway’s local oscillator and enable time and frequency synchronization among
gateways.
