enclosure provides against harmful ingress of water.

effects. Test duration: 1 minute per square meter for at
least 3 minutes.
7 = Immersion, up to 1 m depth - Ingress of water in

50. In 2012, 60 rescue vehicles were equipped with rugged Fieldbook tablet PCs that are directly connected to
the operation control system. Thus, the emergency forces have mobile access to information about the
accident and its location. With the integrated navigation system the vehicles are directly routed there
without any delay. In December 2012 a new order about 120 units arrived at LOGIC INSTRUMENT.
Complete Solution Required
There were three companies involved in the development. The contracting authority, ARC National
Association Salzburg, aims to be able to control the rescue missions digital and mobile. The company A1
Telekom Austria developed the system to connect to the central control system with mobile terminals and
takes responsibility for the so-called desktop service, the technical support of the equipment. LOGIC
INSTRUMENT, manufacturer of rugged mobile computer, delivers with the Fieldbook A1 the suitable
devices including mounting solutions and provided the required configurations and customizations. After
the successful testing, it was decided to generalize the process.
With this system, the rescue coordination center of the ARC Salzburg is able to control and coordinate its
rescue forces and vehicles quickly and effectively. The Fieldbook A1 are installed in the vehicles via docking
stations and transmit their current position to the control center. Without loss of time, in the control center
can thus be determined which vehicle would be the first at the accident location. Aside the transmitting of
information on the accident the driver can be guided to the operation site through the integrated navigation
system.

The fire brigade of the Swiss canton Bern said good-bye to paper solutions for application files
and predefined mission routes. The Fieldbook tablets are each assigned to an emergency vehicle
and mounted on special fixations that are designed to waste as less space as possible but still
enable easy and rapid removal of the Fieldbooks, if necessary.
In case of emergency, the devices receive automatically the mission data and the team has
access to all necessary information and data of the object. There are two noteworthy
applications running on the Fieldbooks: The first one can open the approximately 1,000 risk-
application files in PDF format. The other is a GPS application that shows the exact position of
the vehicle and where it has to go. All these data are transmitted in real-time. The software also
tracks all vehicle movements for the mission report and to calculate possible optimizations for
more efficient operations in the future.

52. The Battle Field Surveillance Radar-Short Range (BFSR-SR) is a man portable 2D short range radar
developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The BFSR is
manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and is used to secure the border lines while preventing
infiltration. Over 1100 units are in use by the Indian Army. Foreign Countries have also placed orders for
the BFSR.
Complete Solution Required
As part of a modernization the existing control and display unit (CDU) will be replaced by military
notebooks from LOGIC INSTRUMENT. Used for this application is a TETRAnote EX15, which shines
through superior resistance to environmental influences, low electromagnetic radiation in accordance to the
MIL-STD461F and through his highly detailed, sunlight-readable 15” display. In addition, an extension box
was developed, which equips all necessary interfaces of the TETRAnote EX15 with military-compliant
connectors.
