2. LOCATION 1- INDOOR
ENVIRONMENT
A large part of my music video will take place within an indoor setting, as described
in my planning thus far. For ease of access, as well as my understanding of the
benefits and limitations of the location, these will be filmed at my house. There are
several large rooms with a lot of open space, and access to fixtures like electrical
sockets for lighting equipment, that will provide a changeable and safe setting for
shoots, and have the added benefit of access at all times, with no restrictions from
weather, travel, or entry permissions.
My home is within close distance of the center of the city, and is easily reached by
the actress, without any need for public transport journeys, which can of course be
unreliable and late. I will have full control over this environment in terms of lighting
and removing natural lighting which would be a detriment to mise en scene, as well
as in the regard of health and safety and the covering of trailing wires, and other
precautions as explored in the risk assessment forms for this location.
4. For the outside location in my music videos, there is an old lighting supplies store
nearby that has been left to slowly dilapidate. The grounds around it are grey, and
concrete, which when paired with the chipped and cracked pastel turquoise paint
that decorates its walls gives a really industrial, city like feeling. My aim is to film
there early in the morning so as to achieve that sunrise look in the sky, and pick up
on those warm pinkish tones that will tint the rest of my music video.
This particular space is public access friendly, which is really useful in that I won’t
have to apply for permits to film at this location. Some difficulties may arise in that
this is an outside location- we are limited to filming on days that are weather
appropriate, without rain or fog. And of course, as a public location, members of the
public may cause difficulties, and distractions to the shoot. The area in front of the
location is away from the main pathway, which is useful for health and safety in that
tripods and other potential hazards to members of the public, as they will be out of
the way of potential harm.
