We have chosen to film the opening of our crime drama in the front room of a typical suburban house in South London. This location was selected because it provides an indoor space unaffected by weather and allows for extra equipment like lights and tripods. The normal house setting also fits the crime drama convention of taking place in relatable, everyday locations and the room has features like large windows and light colors that will help film in natural light for a higher quality opening. Despite only one setting, a variety of camera angles and shots will be used to make the opening interesting and create an appropriate atmosphere for the genre.
