This document discusses analysis and visualization of metrics for online merchandising. It introduces micro-conversion rates as a new set of metrics to provide insight into the effectiveness of different web merchandising efforts. It also presents novel visualizations called starfield visualizations that can be used to understand customer shopping behavior and the effectiveness of various merchandising schemes employed on e-commerce sites. An empirical study is described that demonstrates how the proposed starfield visualizations can analyze look-to-buy data from an online store.
