This document summarizes the livestock supply chain logistics in Oceania. It discusses the many stakeholders involved from farmers to consumers. The movement of livestock is complex, following a "U-tube" pattern from farms to sale yards to processing plants and back. There are lessons to be learned about improving practices, data collection, and encouraging stakeholders to work towards better standards. A multi-disciplinary approach is suggested, starting with smaller pilot projects to test data collection methods before implementing solutions on a wider scale.

Transportation providers now play a more vital role in the fresh food supply chain than ever before. They are expected to provide fast, efficient and sanitary last mile logistics services as this directly impacts the freshness of produce inventory. Product freshness is more critical than ever due to increased customer expectations as consumers are now more educated about varying inventory options available to them. In order for retail grocers to capture market share they must be able to guarantee the highest quality product at the lowest prices- something they can only do by partnering with a reliable and high performing transportation partner. Transportation operations have been impacted by legislation such as the FSMA Sanitary Transportation of Human & Animal Food Rule. Under this legislation many transportation providers have had to make adjustments to their operational processes in order to meet the stringent requirements relating to proper refrigeration during transport, trailer cleansing between loads and proper food protection. Produce inventory shrinkage rates are high due to poor handling during transit. This has spurred advancements in produce packaging and loading procedures. Technology such as cartonization software is being utilized to assist warehouse staff in selecting proper packaging. Transportation providers are also implementing warehouse management software to help direct reverse loading procedures. Reverse loading trailers helps to lower handling requirements as deliveries are made. Minimized handling can potentially reduce inventory damage during transit. Temperature monitors are also being implemented to assist in maintaining regulatory compliance. These monitors track pre-cooling, temperature during transit and temperature at time of delivery. This information helps to complete the audit trail required for FDA FSMA compliance. Vehicle maintenance has also been brought to the forefront as a key factor in ensuring produce inventory quality. Properly maintaining vehicles reduces instances of break downs where inventory shrinkage may occur. Regular maintenance checks are often automated through the transportation providers WMS software. Fuel prices have also affected transportation operations and how they develop their distribution networks. Many are moving towards a spoke-and-wheel strategy, bringing products closer to consumers. HIPOINT AG Corp. Earns Spot in SVG Ventures|THRIVE II Canada Accelerator Program
LOCATION, Vancouver DATE: February 1st 2023 HiPoint AG has earned a coveted spot in the highly competitive SVG Ventures|THRIVE II Canada Accelerator Program. 15 companies from across Canada make up the cohort which kicks off in Silicon Valley in March.
The THRIVE II Canada Cohort is the second cohort of the program that supports companies with novel technologies in the agrifood space. Over the course of the three-month program, HiPoint AG will refine our go-to-market strategy, connect live with investors and mentors in Silicon Valley and Canada, and build a foundation for scalable growth.
HiPoint AG was selected for our potential to disrupt traditional farming practices, promote industry sustainability and reduce environmental impact while giving farmers the tools to increase yields and productivity.
HiPoint Agro Bedding Corp is a closed-loop environmental recycling company with a zero-waste mandate being the first to solve the horse stall residual waste crisis while positively impacting non-point source pollution & global warming in a multibillion-dollar industry. Stall residuals have become a wastestream that is being inadequately and illegally disposed of at a high cost to many counties' agricultural lands, air, and water habitat. HiPoint re-purposes high-quality byproducts through innovation, infusion technology and energy projects while reducing our industries' carbon footprint. Products include healthier hypo-allergenic wood shavings, biomass organic fertilizers and through R&D, biochar and syngas converted to hydrogen renewable fuel cells from a single wastestream. Our vision is to waste nothing and gain everything, building facilities in the heart of equestrian regions throughout North America and around the world.
This session provides a comprehensive overview of the latest updates to the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (commonly known as the Uniform Guidance) outlined in the 2 CFR 200.
With a focus on the 2024 revisions issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), participants will gain insight into the key changes affecting federal grant recipients. The session will delve into critical regulatory updates, providing attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate and comply with the evolving landscape of federal grant management.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the rationale behind the 2024 updates to the Uniform Guidance outlined in 2 CFR 200, and their implications for federal grant recipients.
- Identify the key changes and revisions introduced by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the 2024 edition of 2 CFR 200.
- Gain proficiency in applying the updated regulations to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements and avoid potential audit findings.
- Develop strategies for effectively implementing the new guidelines within the grant management processes of their respective organizations, fostering efficiency and accountability in federal grant administration.
Presentation by Jared Jageler, David Adler, Noelia Duchovny, and Evan Herrnstadt, analysts in CBO’s Microeconomic Studies and Health Analysis Divisions, at the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists Summer Conference.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

social: marginalisation of groups or individuals;
health: diseases that prevent earning a livelihood.
